The Boneyard is the unofficial name for a lot south of Davis Monthan AFB where obsolete, old, aircraft designs are left for storage. The term "boneyard" insinuates that it is a graveyard. It technically is not, most of the aircraft stored at the Boneyard are in working, airworthy condition with basic maintenance. This is a contingency plan, should the US ever have an emergency need for aircraft, supposedly upwards of 90% of the aircraft at the base could be re activated and sent into combat once again. While obsolete, it's certainly better then giving up without a fight at all.
Quite the contingency.
