All Justice systems are bad. People who steal serve more time than people who rape or moleste.

Not to mention it has taken three years for an inquiry to be set in motion over the charges and conviction of a cop who killed a woman while drunk driving off-duty which lead to only probation and a suspension. No vehicular manslaughter or anything.

I am talking about all of the people that have been murdered and given light or no sentences here in Canada.

Ok so here is a scenario. Your whole family is murdered and only one person was convicted and released on bail. But wait, your happy because you get your free music?

I'll agree that this man getting bail is completely unfair but I've heard stories a lot worse about down in the States. Like a man that was robbing someones house fell through their sky window and landed on a knife and then sued the homeowners. Like Torontomapleafs said I think all justice systems have their flaws.

It is a major flaw here. People get light or sometimes no sentences at all for murders.

I think there is some law in the US that if someone breaks into your house and gets hurt in the process they can sue you. As far as I'm concerned if someone breaks into your house you have the full authority to kill them. If there's a burglar in my house I'm gonna stab him before I can find out if he has a gun or not.

I agree with you on that. If somebody breaks into your house, you should have at least have the right to injure them.

Wasn't there a court case about a man trying to rob a house while the family was on vacation, getting trapped in the garage, and suing the family because all that he had to eat was dog food? That was the US.

Another case that I heard about was when a couple got into an argument in a store and the girlfriend threw her drink on her boyfriend. Well, she walked back around later and slipped in her own drink and injured herself. She sued, of course. They shoud've cleaned it up faster.

I agree that it's sick, though. He should never leave jail.

Yeah. It's sort of like that here. We can't kill someone because they're on our property, but if they put our life in danger then we can kill them to save our life.

He was only served 5 years. He was not the mastermind behind the whole bombing. He constructed the bomb.

IMO, the only good justice system needs to be just, swift and severe in punishment. No justice system implemented does that. Some justice systems take too long, cost too much and hand soft punishments where murderers can walk the streets in 10 years, e.g the US. You have other systems that are mostly corrupt but are decisive and handout strong punishments like in Saudi Arabia.

US Courts dont always give you life for murder. My cousins father was murdered by some guy, he shot him in the back. It was over drugs. They gave him like a 7 year sentence but got out in 4 for good behavior.

Canada isnt the only one that has flawed court systems.

of course all legal systems have flaws. but i mean this is a disaster! after 20 years only one person has been found guilty and ,as on wikipedia is stated, prosecution and investigation cost almost 130 million cad!

This is only one of 2 things i belive america has better then canada, are justice system does truely suck the biggest balls ever. I come from a high crime area and so many worthless peices of human waste get out on "oh you were just a victim of society" and start comiting crimes all over again. Dont belive humm lets see here a good/popular case for you:

Here

Not to mention that were i live and some other places like halifax there are people asking for some kids 14 and up to be tried as abults because there crimes are becoming to violent and freguent and the youth justice system is way to soft. Luckly is been working and some shumsbags have been tried as adults.

Personally i'm against laws like private gun ownership which give property owners too much power over nonproperty owners.

That might be going to easy, but the American system is way too harsh and suing friendly. I'm not a christian, but America is supposed to be a nation under god and christianity is about forgiveness, so live by your book dammit!

The example given here is only one example of the CJS failing. Another example being the woman from St. Stephen, NB who decided to burn her baby in the fire pit behind her house. She got 5 months of house arrest, thats it. Why? They couldn't prove whether the baby was dead before or after she burned it.

Also the reason the maxium sentence for murder is 25 years is that in Canada you serve sentences concurrently (at the same time) not consequtively (one after the other). Murder 20 people, get 20 life sentences, serve 20 life sentences consequtively, serve 25 years.

Well we try to rehabilitate prisoners, not just slap on the cuffs and give them hard time.

And don't worry folks, i'm sure he'll be back in prison again soon.
