Don't know anything about it. CrimzonTidecheck my blog, there is how I got involved in Linux, and there are several tutorials on the net which tell you step-by-step how to "virtualize" Windows XP in Linux.
BTW If you are thinking to switch to Linux, wait a few weeks and download Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon.
CHeck Youtube for vids on Ubuntu
IMO Ubuntu is better than Vista.
So when they say, "supported to 2009", what does that mean? Does that mean when 2009 hits I won't get any updates at all? Then will I just have to download the newest version of Ubuntu, but then won't that delete all my files/programs????xenos4No, it's downloaded as an update, just like Windows' updates. No files are lost.
Also, my parents are REAL noobs at computer stuff. Is Linux easier than Windows XP? (they don't use much on Windows XP, just the internet and sometimes Microsoft Office).xenos4If that's all they use then they should have no problems there. The difficulties in Linux lie in the more advanced stuff, such as installing programs. You'll often find yourself needing to use the Terminal (like the command prompt in windows) for things and having to manually enter commands, but if you're willing to learn, it would probably be easy to understand. Things are made easy for a basic user, but beyond that linux isn't just a pick up and go thing.
Will Linux be okay for me? Does it have Compiz Fusion with all the cool effects and virtual desktops and wiggly windows and w/e already built in? Or will I have to download that somewhere else? Please help me Ubuntu users!!!!xenos4The latest version does have Compiz built in. If you frequently play games on a PC then you'd be better off with windows, but you can still use Linux for other things. If you're willing to learn how to do things with it then it should be easy to pick up and use frequently.
