It's actually arguable that Michael Jackson has a worse effect than weed :P

But to quote Phil Anselmo (Pantera): "Your trust is in whiskey and weed and Black Sabbath, It's goddamn electric"

If you're addicted, it'll kill a lot of brain cells after using it every day, heavy amounts, for a good few years, and you'll become dumb, but otherwise, no.. not really. It can't do anything unless you're addicted, and it's VERY unlikely that you'll be addicted. Also, it's illegal and expensive, so that's a bit of a trouble too.

Not according to the latest research. Weed doesn't kill any brain cells. Some research done claims that it even repairs brain cells damaged by drinking.

MJ=Mary Jane. It's a "street" name for marijuana.

Sure, you can get some for $5...but it won't get you enough to do anything.

Can't remember where I heard about this but a recent scientific study released its data concluding that Alochol and tobbaco were more addicting, and harmful then both pot and LSD.

I don't know anything about 1 LSD...only had 1 experience with that...but weed isn't physically addictive at all.

It depends on the person.  Some people have a bad effect from doing it and others will continue doing it for years.  it, like all bad drugs, do damage to your body.  Weed effects the brain most of all.  But if i were you i would google it instead of posting it on GS forums.

No, many myths exist though either from the days of refer madness or perpetuated by the so called "war on drugs".

Modern studys seem to suggest that it's basically harmless.

Wrong. Any mind effecting drug has side effects. It also wouldn't be great for your lungs either.

yea it's pretty hard to believe that MJ doesn't really have any long term mental effects since stoners are pretty dim witted, but the scientific studies are there.  Once you go clean your brain is essentually the same as a non-pot smoker.

anyone smoke nutmeg hehe??

actually to the people that are claiming that ganja doesn't change your brain it does. it alters chemicals in your brain and your brain stopps producing them. so you feel really sick after you stop. but after a few months the brain starts adapting. and people say that mj is not addicting. Mj is very very addicting. trust me!

At least as far as I know, in the last couple of years, there haven't been any studys showing negative effects on the brain or lungs, however I have seen quite a few studys showing that it may slow down the growth of lung cancer.

what kind of person would think that smoking marijuana would help slow lung cancer.

marijuana is something you smoke which alone is terible. and if u have ever smoked u would kno its ten times stronger than tabbacco and u breath in so mich more tar and chemicals. cigerrettes atleast have filters. some of this new "research" is all just propaganda.

No one smokes enough weed to get lung cancer from it. Its not like cigarettes where people smoke 2 packs a day. Theres never been a connection between cancer and smoking marijuana and much research proves this.

There are no serious long term or short term effects from cannabis.  It is not a gateway drug.  It is safe. If thats what your worried about.  Dont use Erowid, its never updated and the effects discribed are nothing like the real thing.

I think that was shown to be wrong long before that.

But medical science is rapidly changing and fixing past errors.

scientific researchers and medical doctors?

Cannibas only has one active ingrediant, thc, the rest is just the plant, there's no tar in it, as there aren't any toxic chemicals.

The 5x stronger and 10x stronger thing is just a myth that has survived since the the days of "refer madness" but there is no data to support this.

white_sox

I don't know much about the effects of marijuana...but I do know it's a gateway drug. I've personally witnessed it.

It sometimes appears that it is with some people, but overall it isn't at all. Any place that has legalized marijuana has seen a dramatic decrease in the use of harder drugs, while surely the opposite would happen if it were a gateway drug. Its often the case that for those whom appear to have been led into harder drugs because of marijuana might have ended up doing them had they not started with marijuana.
