Everyone says this is like, the scariest movie in the entire world and everything. I heard on IMDB that people were exiting the theatres, turning off the TV, or leaving the room on some scenes. This one guy even told me 9 people died from this movie. :S

Is what they say really true? Is the movie really THAT scary? I want to get some words from the people who's seen this movie, and tell me what they think about it. I'm curious to see it but I'm kind of scared to at the same time...

One of the scariest movies I've ever seen, and I watch scary movies all the time. If your a christian, it might resonate a litle more with you. The sequels aren't as scary as the first one, though.

In it's day it was....you'll find a few scary images, but don't go into it with the mindset of the IMDB users that you're reading. Everyone over there thinks their nostalgic feelings = quality. Although, I'll say that eerie-style horror like The Exorcist stand up very well over time compared to things like Alien.

I think for it's time it was a dam scary movie. most people weren't expecting to see a movie like the exorcist to come out and show some of the things in the movie but most people today are so used to horror movies they're not shocked when they watch it again

I'm 32 years old and that movie still gives me the creeps. Yeah there were some bad things that happend to the actors and crew while filming. It is one of the best horror movies ever made.

Rent it when your home by yourself one night and turn off all the lights LOL.

Think about what we see today and that movie still scares people of this generation. All that stuff is true... From what I've heard, of course. :P

If you're easily spooked or freaked out it'll probably give you a heart attack, it's extremely well done. :P

That's not the case with me though, scaring me is no easy task, so I didn't find it all that scary (it also helps that I never watched it as a kid), it made jump probably a couple times but that's it, it's still an amazing movie though, I'd recommend it even if it doesn't scare you.

This is actually an excellent piece of advice, I'm pretty sure you'll get at least one chill down your spine at some point or another if you watch it like this as opposed to in the afternoon with friends. :P

Often the music makes a film less scary for me. For example, when the music starts to speed up you know that something scary is about to happen. Eerie sound-effects that are well placed work a whole lot better IMO.

I watched it a VERY long time ago and didn't find it scary AT ALL. BUT I found "IT" very scary at that same age.
