The fate of the Simpsons is now official...

They're returning for two more seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

What's really surprising is the fact that the cast is returning with a significant cut in pay, and no back end dead whatsoever. I thought that Fox would finally pull the plug, but I guess they're going to wait until the show hits the landmark 25th season before going through this song-and-dance again. As good as they were, I honestly hope that it finally ends after this.

I apologize for not posting a better topic subject, but I thought the handful of people who watch the show would like to know.

That's hilarious, my friend who was a huge fan of the series was totally happy with it ending. I think they are dragging it out too much at this point.

Ditto. Same here.

If it was up to me I'd have them just pick a final season and really go all out on that one last season. Take extra time, get some alumni writers, just make the series end on a high note. I fear the show will be absolute garbage at the time of cancellation which is unfortunate for what was once the best show on television.

I hate the thought of kids growing up now, watching the the "new" Simpsons and thinking this is what the show is really all about.

I know it shouldn't bother me but it does,especially when I think back to it's early/mid nineties heyday when it was then possibly the greatest TV show ever written,and compare it to the situation now where the creators and writers were happy to take the money and run the show into the ground.

I still watch the show even though it's not nearly as funny. I'll be sad when it finally does end, but I'll be okay as long as they give the show a proper send off.

Damn, I was hoping they would finally put this old dog out of it's misery.

I still have a few laughs with the show even if it is not as good as it once was. It is sort of like a band that doesn't put out masterpieces anymore, but that still entertains me with their live shows and new good songs. So I say bring me more episodes!

I love the Simpsons and I don't want it to end; still making great episodes.

I think season 25 should be the last one. It's like how Oprah ended her show.

I'm fine with it. I hope those 2 seasons are good.
