Have any of you ever read Lois Lowry's The Giver and its sequels Gathering Blue and Messenger?

If you have, what did you think of them?

I liked it very much, but books like Brave New World and 1984 along the same lines were quite a bit better for me.

I've read the giver, but I didn't know it had sequels.  I really liked the book, even though it was a bit weird.  It has been like 4 or 5 years since I read it, maybe I'll read it again someday.

I read The Giver and Gathering Blue, but not Messenger. I liked them, but I really liked Gathering Blue. I actually have it somewhere in my collection of books that deals with mostly vampires and such. :|

I've read the giver and it was pretty good. I might not like it if I reread it though, many opinions have changed.

I was forced to read it some time back in grade school. It was quite interesting and I never thought it was weird, because of all the fantasy ficiton I'm used to.

I wouldnt mind going book shopping for these sequels.
