I think it's the all time greatest piece of american cinema. You're arguement sounds just like that family guy episode where peter says he didn't care for the movie and the whole family gangs up on him because it's just simply impossible not to like that movie. But we all have our opinions:D
Lemmie ask you this question though, did you enjoy goodfellas or casino?
finally first saw them last year.. overrated imo. yeah they were good movies, and i guess groundbreaking for thier time.... but meh :|
Goodfellas.. nope just the same couldnt get into it .. and same goes for casino.. and that also goes for scarface.. it is funny really cause yes ppl do gang up on me saying you cant say that its mint . its annoying but opinions are opinionskillerzboy010
My guess is that you just don't enjoy mafia dramas, at least that's how it sounds to me. So did u watch Donnie Brasco or Gotti?
Obviously it's one of the greatest movie ever made. There is little who will debate that. The film is a true piece of art. People who don't like it are just too simple minded (nice for "idiots") or young to understand the complex plot, and appreciate the writing, acting, directing, etc. Judging from your post, I'm guessing that you're one of the two... if you are just too young for it, watch it again in five-ten years, if you don't like it then, well, I've got some bad news for you.

I didn't like it. But I'm not a Pacino fan.Wilfred_Owen
What does that have to do anything? You may mind this shocking, but a majority of actors don't write and direct the movies they star in.
Best super long movie ever made. I love it! :) My favorite part is when that one dude goes into the bar, and the guy grabs his hand, and quickly takes out a knife to stab in him in the hand. :DChicaQueenWarGalucca braschi(spelling) yea taht scene is intense. My favorite scene is micheals baptism(it was his sons too right?). That scene is just awesome.

Because there's something seriously wrong with you, it's like if people are alcoholics and they wonder why everyone cares so much when they have a few drinks. Help me help you!

oh heck yes! Clemenza ambushes those dudes in the elevator with a double barrel shotgun, Willie Cicci traps that guy in the revolving door and the look on his face when he's shooting that boss is just gangster. 8)

Any generation can get something out of the Godfather... there really is something for everybody.
It's been my favorite movie of all time for about 15 years now.. and I still can't watch it without finding something new that I like about it. I think that's the beauty of it... it continually amazes me how perfect that movie really is.
So yeah. Anyway, it's definitely possible to love this movie as a kid, but I think as you get older... you develop more of an appreciation for the films subtle details that you just didn't catch on your previous viewing.
My opinion at least.
I love it, Marlon Brando's performance as Vito is in my opinion the greatest in the history of film. His conversation with the undertaker at the start of the film is untouchable.
In spite of the long run time it feels half as long as Jury Duty or Son-in-Law.
