Who has the more entertaining and/or useful show?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Bear Grylls because he drank his own urine out of a rattlesnake skin.
And I havent head of the other guy.
Les Stroud all the way. He stays out there for 7 days by himself and lugs all the camera gear. He doesn't have extra camera guys assisting him. He actually teaches you something and doesn't just run around like a monkey doing things you are not supposed to dowhile trying to survive.Grylls is only in there for a day max and has been accused of staying at a hotel during his filmings.
Les Stroud, because he actually survives by himself, carries all the equipment with him, and you know, actually teaches you how to survive.
Entertaining-Bear Grylls. The show is not made to be accurate, but adventurous and dramatic. I like the show, I just wish it would drop all pretense of being a legitimate survival show and quit giving people horrible advice. Useful-Survivorman. Poor guy has to survive on his own and lug around camera equipment. What he does is more helpful and accurate. If you actually wanted to survive in the wild, you should probably read a book.Got_to_go
These are basically my exact thoughts.
I like both shows, but Man vs. Wild really should not be passing itself off as a serious survival guide.
As a backpacker I have learned a few things from Survivorman, but it mostly just gives one a general idea of what to do, because to really learn this stuff would require studying and practice identifying safe plants, building traps, collecting water, building fires, etc. You can't learn from watching a show.
Bear Grylls is the more entertaining hover Les Stroud is more useful, practical, and realistic. Doing the things Bear would want you to do would be impossible for the average person and would likely get them killed or injured.
Les. Also the guys from Dual Survival are also better than Bear.

Ahaha, yeah I was going to say Bear Grylls and those 2 guys from Dual Survival are the best.

Stroud because he wears a bandana everywhere he goes.
I agree, Bandannas are cool! Also agreed, Les Stroud teaches Survival, Bear Grylls is more for entertainment if you ask me. But they are both good and enjoyable to watch, but I prefer Les over Bear. It's not even a debate. Les Stoud actually teaches you how to survive. Bear teaches you how to die in the wilds in a blaze of glory.

Also this, Dual Survival is pretty new, but I love it!
This is no debate. This is like asking if someone perphers Coke or a card-board cutout in the shape of a Coke can (not even a bottle!)
Les Stroud teaches and is realistic his disconnection sometimes bordering on lunicy. When there's desolation or tension in that show it's palpable. Bear Grylls does none of that.
Les Stroud even does all the filming himself while he survives and it comes out more artisticly than Bear's show. Now that's an epic fail if ever I heard one :P

If Price and Soap had a son he would look like the guy on the right. He and his B.A American Indian companion would travel the world showing everyone how to kick natures butt.
Bear Grylls. While I agree that Les Strouds advice is more useful to the average person, everything on Man v Wild will have use depending on the situation. A lot fo the information is similar to what is found in books like the SAS survival guide howver the show is made in such a way that I think it is meant to be more entertaining as well. That and it's awesome watching Bear eat some crazy stuff.
