The greatest band ever

Hi there, I was just wondering after haveing a discussion with my bandmates about what the best band ever was. They say the beatles, but Personally, I can say Dream Theater is the greatest, and heres why:

Each of their albums have something new (very original,except the new one isn't that good)

All of their band members are amazing

Lyrics are very deep and true

Basically the perfect band.

But, I am not here to argue over who the best band is, I am wondering, what do you think the greatest band ever should be judged by? Skill, the ability to fill an arena? Most known songs? etc. I think that it should be all of the above, except for best knonw, because just cause everyone knows them, doesn't make them amazing. But what are your thoughts, and in your opinion, what is the best band ever? and your tops.

well id say there are best bands for every genre

but i do think rush is the greatest because its amazing how only 3 guys can make so much sound. Rarely any of their songs sound the same.

also i think bands that use simple techniques in their instruments and make them sound good, are also amazing. especially tool, nirvana, tom morello bands

It's all opinion. In mine, it's probably The Buddy Rich Big Band, or other big band jazz groups. You should've just limited this to rock..:(

thats nice and all but really the subject of "zomg worlds greatest bandzorz!!!!" is a faulty one mainly because it is very opinion based. one group of people can say that *heavy metal band A* is the best while *Classic rock band B* is the greatest. if its your favorite thats great! *gives thumbs up* but really, to say that any band in the world is the best and mean it as fact is a little lost...

also, isnt it a little ironic that you say Dream Theater is the best band ever while your username says RushMetallica?

I was thinking of that, but I still believe that Dream theater is better than Buddy rich big band, But I have only listened to about 3 Buddy songs, so its just my opinion.

Even though I personally think that Pearl Jam is the greatest band ever, I have to give it to the Beatles.

I didn't say it as fact, just my opinion, and the point of the thread was to ask what people judge the best beand ever on, in their opinion, I guess I should've made that more clear.
