I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and I guess the best band to ever come out of my city was The Guess Who. They did the songs: These Eyes, American Woman, and No Sugar Tonight. Just to name a few.
Other than that, apparently Neil Young is also from Winnipeg as well as (the now washed up) Crash Test Dummies.
What's the coolest band or solo artist to ever come from your city?
Rush sort of... sort of... ish came out of Calgary in an extremely distant way. Alex Lifeson was from a small town in the Crownest pass which is really near Calgary. I know Geddy was from Toronto, I think Neil Peart was from somewhere in northern Ontario.
Vaavi, legendary finnish punkband. Also No Shame is a rather famous band around here, and they started in the town where I live, but I don't like them that much. :/
I only know one that comes from my small city (I live in Ormstown, Quebec, Canada), its Gottweist, metal band formed by one of my friend's brother and his friends, they only did one song for now, the singing is so so, but you have to understand he's french, and they told me he (the singer wasn't really good in english)If you wanna hear it, go on myspace and search for GottWeist.
zz top, destiny's child, beyonce, phat pat, lil troy, big hawk, fenix tx, chamillionare, mike jones, paul wall, i cant think of any more bands, but they are all from h-town.
