The Greatest Emo Album Ever Made.

In Defense of The Genre by Say Anything.

Now I know most people hate emo music and I agree that most of it sucks but there are a few shining examples of how the genre can work, such as Say Anything and Brand New.

Me too! We all know Analphabetapolothology is the greatest emo album ever made. Diary by SDRE is a close second though.

Anyway, Say Anything are okay. They're pretty catchy. However, I don't think they're an emo band.

I really like their song "Alive With The Glory of Love" but i haven't followed them much else than that. Haha i was going to say one of Hawthorne Height's albums, probably my favorite emo band, although I'm not sure what is considered emo and what isn't. Because about 90 percent of my itunes is alternative.

Anyway I'll have to give it a listen.

I disagree, the best emo album has to be 30 Seconds to Mars album "A Beautiful Lie".

I listened to the track in the link, and the genre just isn't for me at all.

They all sing with the exact same, irritating, voice...and that bugs me.

Someone told me Elliot Smith is emo, which I disagree with. He was a depressed folk-song writer that wrote the soundtrack to Good Will Hunting, had several albums and eventually committed suicide. Still, regardless of whether he's emo or not, I'd rank his self-titled album as the best Emo album ever made, though I hate most emo. Here's a live version of the song from said album: Needle in the Hay. I saw this tour. It was great.

I dunno, i like punk rock, but not this type of "emo" music it just seeems so self obbsessive and makes problems out of nothing. and i hate it when people do that.

i also dont like labels, and if someone has to label themselves as "emo", it just conjures up keywords such as "*****", "***", and ofcourse "***".

Oh and i listened to that song "girlfriend" or whatever it was called, it seemed like a happy subject matter but still they managed to make it sound depressing as hell.

I really am. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. If the singer sings like that, its because he wants to sing like that. If they write songs like that, it's because they want to write songs like that. It annoys me how close-minded people can be.

Some of the songs by this band are really meaningful. If its not your thing then fine, but there's no need to go on about how much you hate emo music every possible chance you get.

Really? I love How It Feels To Be something On but I don't think it comes close to Diary. And Rainer Maria are great. I really like Look Now Look Again.

Really? I love How It Feels To Be something On but I don't think it comes close to Diary. And Rainer Maria are great. I really like Look Now Look Again.

Heh :P "Every Shining Time You Arrive" pushes it just above. Diary is a more solid effort, but HIFTBSO has acouple of fantastic songs and only one weakish one. In my opinion at least. *shrug*

And aye, Look Now Look Again is great, especially "Breakfast of Champions" and "centrifuge". I'm partial to "Long Knives Drawn" though. I love me some "Ears Ring" and "Mystery and Misery"

IMO the best track on Defense is "This is ****ing Ecstasy"

I saw Say Anything live at warped tour and got moshed during Shiska, there is absolutely no reason for me to get moshed during that song.
