Um, why did this movie take 7 years to make? The last movie was in 2003, and they already have the book for a movie screenplay, so were they waiting on better CGI technology or something?
Or perhaps waiting for the audience to be interested in fantasy medieval(?) settings again perhaps? Since the 3 LotR movies were kinda sort of back-to-back. More or less.
It didn't take 7 years to make. There were problems with the studio getting the rights to make the movie, a lawsuit between Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema over revenues, another between the Tolkien estate and New Line. Changes in director. It had nothing to do with their technical ability to make the movie. Just a lot of legal issues that kept the project from really getting off the ground., Um, why did this movie take 7 years to make? The last movie was in 2003, and they already have the book for a movie screen play, so were they waiting on better CGI technology or something?
thattotally
Honestly, I'm almost glad that it took this long for people to get their act together and produce the films. Wouldn't want to squander all of Tolkein's world on a single decade. I'm definitely looking forward to release.
I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. The story of the Hobbit isn't as compelling as the trilogy, in my opinion. I'll certainly check it out though.
Are they splitting it into two movies?

Nah, the first movie will be the whole Hobbit story and the second movie will be a bridge between the gaps of The Hobbit and LoTR.[QUOTE="Da_lil_PimP"]

Nah, the first movie will be the whole Hobbit story and the second movie will be a bridge between the gaps of The Hobbit and LoTR. Source? I'm fairly certain they're splitting it after the Misty Mountains.I wonder what role Mikael Persbrandt was assigned before he decided to snort cocaine and screw it all up. Even if it's a really really minor role, it's The Hobbit man. What a dumb***
Edit: Beorn? Beorn the hobbit, no idea how important that character is, anyone know?
Other than that, yeah it's gonna be fun to see how this movie turns out. Everyone is expecting a lot.
