I've been thinking about death every once in a while and it literally causes me to sweat and occasionally shed a tear or two. Now I don't believe in God or the afterlife so my question is if anyone experiences the same thing how do you cope with it?

Fact: Everyone will die. It's scary, but it's inevitable.spazzx625
I'm not scared in the least bit. It seems that the only ones scared are the non-believers or agnostics.

seems to me that people who truly fear turn to god to try and create meaning[QUOTE="Jandurin"]everyone dies, why worry?Maqda7Ya.......That's not very comforting. but, you're not special D= It's gonna happen to everyone. Worrying about it just means you aren't making use of the time you have.

I think that the scariest thing is trying to imagine not being animate. Try thinking about experiencing/feeling absolutely nothing. No thought, touch, sight, hearing etc. Just crushing darkness. That is why I hope to God (no pun intended) that there is an afterlife.SolidSnake2142presumably your brain stops working too, so it's no big deal.

But as I said every once in a while I sit down and think about it because of something that happened around me.

Fear of the unknown is natural for humans. Also, I'm pretty sure a lot of believers are scared too.

What he's saying is that there is nothing to experience. You wouldn't experience nothingness.

Im a non-believer and Im not afraid of dying. I'm an agnostic and I'm not afraid of dying. Then go into medical research and spend your life developing technologies to extend it. thriteenthmonke
Why should someone have to dedicate their life just because they have an opinion that relates to something?
Let's say someone has an opinion on a certain war or military action, that doesn't mean they have to become a soldier or a member or the peace corps.
I've always found that argument so trite.

I don't think you truly know whether or not you're afraid until you've faced your death.
Death isn't scary at all. There are things on this world far scarier than death.
The only things scary about death is the unpredictibility of it and what lies beyond it, if anything.

I can't speak for how I'll feel in the future... This is how I feel now.I understand that. However, that could change once you face your death.
