Just thought it would be nice with a thread appreciating one of the most underrated directors of modern cinema.

If you ever watched The Thing or They Live you know what I'm talking about and if you haven't well you will either not like it or you will fall in love with it.

He also made killer music to his films.

The Thing was a great movie! I still remember the ambient soundtrack that it had at the beginning...

All that needs to be said about John Carpenter is The Thing is the single greatest movie made by anyone ever.

It's gonna be a prequel focusing on how the Norwegians from the start of the movie dealt with the thing.

It's a prequel. John Carpenter isn't involved, the director was announced and I think it was someone pretty poor, but I can't remember who. It will be a proper cinema release though with a budget, so it could be good or bad.

I think you got those mixed up because NY is the good one, LA is awful.

The Thing is a great movie also. There's a lot of interesting subtlety to it, stuff you wont notice unless you watch it 2 times.

Amen to that, though it did unfortunately begin a string of slash-the-teenager movies (ok, some were fun to watch), something that probably should have started with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre from a few years prior.

Never was a fan. I loved The Thing, but wasn't a fan of any of his others (except maybe They Live, which was kind of cool). The Thing doesn't even seem like one of his movies, the tone feels so different from his usual campy style.

The Thing (Best Sci Fi Horror EVER!) and The Fog scared the crap out of me when I was kid, and I still love them. Escape from LA is another one of my favorites too.

Great Director & Writer.

I find 80's slashers fun, they have the same recipe gore, sex, boobs and hot girls. You know exactly what to expect when going into a slasher and as they are usually short and comedic they don't get boring.

Palantas

"You've got to be f***ing kidding me!" was one of the funniest lines I've ever seen in the movies, between Kurt and his expression.

Now that's Cla*sic!
