My friends and I have been looking forward to this movie for a while now since we were huge fans of the show (despite it being a Nickelodeon cartoon). But, we all feared that the likes of M. Night Shyamalan would ruin it, which I know a lot of other fans of the show had in mind.
Now, I know it's early since the movie still has another day before its release, and only 12 reviews have been aggregated on Rotten Tomatoes. Therefore, a 0% isn't likely to last as the film's final rating on the site. But 12 negative and 0 positive reviews definitely isn't a good sign, and the score isn't likely to change much in the next few days (same case scenario with Grown Ups, and look how far that got).
Call me crazy, fanboy, whatever you want....but that won't change my utter disappointment with the film's apparent critical reception. I was shocked and disappointed upon hearing about M. Night's rights to the film several months ago, but was actually willing to give him one last chance just for this. Setting aside the casting, the appearance, the M. Night, and pretty much everything else people seemed to have a problem with prior to this movie's release, I was seriously hyped up for this to come out--until now. I guess I'll have to wait and see if the Tomatometer for this adaptation of such an awesome cartoon gets lucky in the days to come.
