I took a month reading the fellowship and I'm on the Two Towers now.I love the books though, and the films ... I can't decide.
Yeah, and in LOTR I think the average pages per chapter must be around at least 20 ...I've also started reading another book too, Legend by David Gemmell :PJango-BawlsYup and I hate books with chapters more than 7 pages >_>

The films did a better job of summarizing the books than I ever thought possible. They still lack the detail, of course, but that could be said of any movie translation (except for something like Twilight where there was no detail or depth to begin with).
If pressed, however, I'd rather watch the movies. They have the added bonus of not having Tom Bombadil. **Bleep** I hate him.

Yay! I'm not the only one that hates Tom Bombadil. Redwall! Now that's a blast from the past. Those books made me so damn hungry all of the time.
...and yet you read more than one of them? ;) No, I haven't, and fortunately so from your description.SpaceMooseNo, they were actually pretty good for kid's books. They're not Tolkien caliber by any means, but I enjoyed them when I was young.
I prefer The Fellowship of the Ring,I loved the movie. Thanks to a strong performance by Sean Bean.My favorite part was when Gandalf fell, and at the end when Sam climbed into the boat with Frodo, powerfull stuff.teh_destroyerBoth really good parts :) I liked the Two Towers the best tho.
