So the other day I was at my Grandparents house, with my Grandfather and Step Grandmother, well they know that I know how to pick locks open, so they give me a lockpicking kit and ask me to open one of their droor things, well I unlock that and there was nothing in it, but atleast they can put stuff in it now.

Well theres this old dusty safethat hadn't been opened in years, well Itry to pick open the lock,it takes me around 30 minutes and finally!!! I open it up and hundreds of gold and silver coins come rushing out!!!! SO I rush up and tell my Stepgrandmother, itturns outthat her previous husband who had passed away a couple years ago was a coin collector, andwe gathered all thedifferent and exotic coins, and shethanked me and said I could keep a handfull!!!! So I got....

8 American silver dollars from the 1970's...

A full dollar coin from 1972... (American.)

A 2000 gold Saqajewia1 dollar coin. (American.)

A full dollar coin from 1979 with some lady on it. (American.)

A1962 nickel, from Canada.

And a penny from 1944, it was made out of somecheap material but its still in good shape!!!

I wish I had a digital camera, but I'll have to get one and tae pictures of these coins and post them on GS!!!

This is awesome!!!!!

Nice find, most of those coins aren't worth much now but at least one of them could be worth more. The penny sounds like a WWII steel penny.

I have all those coins and more because my mom worked at a bank alot of old ladies come in with these old coins. My mother just exchanges some of her coins for those. It's not stealing though. 2007 penny for 1940 penny and so-on. If you find anyplace that buys them let me know. I've been trying to sell these forever.

Well I doubt it's allowed. person gives her the coins. She takes her own money and puts it where the coins are supposed to go. It's the same amount of money but not the same coins. the lady isn'tsaving those specific coins, just the value. She couldn't ask for those same coins back if she came back.No one is losing any money. You understand?

I never thought Id see the day when Nicktheimperial post something that doesnt have to do with military or politics....and then to make things even cooler it turns out we have some things in common, Coins, and lockpicking.....these have been kinda like a hobby for me since as long as I can remember..KUDOS on your find......

Ive been colecting coins since I was 11 ive kinda lost interest in them but i still have my colection and i have a few coins that are really old and in very good condition its a spanish coin from 1761 and a few silver dollars, as for lock picking....I started fooling around with combination locks in elementary and there wasnt a single locker in the whole schoool i couldnt open ...

one time i was asked for help by the highschool principal .....and I managed to open an old locker they had in the office but there were only old papers and a coffe mug in it....Ever since vie tried to open just about every lock i can ..(that wouldnt get me in trouble that is)

see you around nick
