So about couple of months ago when MK vs DC Universe was just about to release, i was in my local Gamestop store just browsing through games and i saw this group of people playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl and they were talking tot he girl was was workign at the Gamestop at that time and that is their conversation and i swear that this is exactly what i heard,

guy playing SSBB: Man i cannot wait to play MK vs DC...imagine Batman vs Superman..

GS Employee: Wait...why is Superman in this game? isn't he a Marvel character?

right after i heard that i was like WTF!!! she just did not said that...this is ignorance on a massive scale...i mean she didn't knew that Superman was from DC?...okay let m finish the converstaion between these two,

guy playing SSBB: Superman is not from Marvel...he is from DC...

GS Employee: Superman is DC? Since when?

guy playing SSBB: since 1938...

GS Employee: oh wow..i did not knew that..

and after that she went to do some other stuff and the guys left the store and i was just standing there wondering that i just witnessed the biggest act of ignorance regarding Superman. I mean how can she not know that Superman is from DC..evryone who know atleast a slight bit of pop culture should know that..so my question..have you encountered a similiar situation when someone infront of said something really ignorant and stupid regarding a comic book character?

and again i am NOT making this up...it really happened.

Maybe it's time for YOU to get your priorities straight when you actually get worked up over someone not knowing that Superman is a DC comics character.

No offense.

But I mean, REALLY. On the list of things that "everyone should know", which comic book company created Superman has got to be pretty damn close to the bottom of the list. And that's if that even makes the list at all.

Remember that you're getting worked up over freaking SUPERMAN.

At least the person knew about Marvel. Most people wouldn't even know what you are talking about. they just know the heroes and not the companies.

Gamestop hires non-gamers. It's a fact. I asked someone about the Orange Box if it's good she said yeah "MY CUZ PLAYS IT ON TEH PC AND HE'S LIEK OMGGG 2 KUEL ^______^ ~desu" minus the desu but she actually tried to look like the "^_^" face, all she was missing was a peace sign

Yeah, I don't dispute that not knowing that Superman is a DC character is "ignorant". But the TC seems to actually be getting worked up over this.

Of course to be fair, coming from me that's like the pot calling the kettle black, considering how often people here are telling me to "calm the **** down!"

Too bad his movie was kind of... meh. People need to relax though. Of course people care when there is a big movie. Iron Man was the same deal and when the watchmen movie comes out expect something similar. We shouldn't be disappointed.

You are making me look like i threw a fit over this like one of those idiotic fanboys...the reason i was shocked was that there were posters in the entire store of various dc characters and she still didn't knew...that pretty ignorant even if you didn't knew anything about comics..and what's up with "freaking Superman"...

Yes, I bet that there are over 50% of population in asia that still think Superman, Batman, Wonder woman are from Marvel

Capcom's Marvel Vs. Capcom game series somehow brainwashed them

I'm pretty oblivious when it comes to superheroes, I'm more of a manga fan myself. I usually make any random stuff up ("I loved that scene when Capt. America was killed by Wolverine") because really, there're so many alternate stories/universes that I can make any random statement like that and quite possibly be right. I know Capt. America has died a billion and one times by now.

Some people dont even know spider-man is based off a comic book, i also HATE HATE HATE people who think TMNT stuff is based of a kids show. IT FRIGGEN ISNT, ITS BASED OFF A VERY VIOLENT AND DARK COMIC BOOK!! They all wear RED!!!

i remeber one time on the internet some guys was talking about the cons of the first TMNT movie in 1989 and that one of his cons were that they messed up splinters back story saying he originally really wasnt a rat by not staying true to the 80's cartoon.:| WTF!!!!!!!

I agree completely with you. Who cares if she doesn't know where superman belongs in the comic book world? I've been gaming since the NES era and I know absolutely nothing about comic books. Where did the TC get the idea that the two were related? Is it because the general public still views gaming as a "dorky" activity, and comic books as even worse?

Ah-ha! Sensitive area detected! Set aggravation cannons to maximum level! Ahem...

  • Mr. Fantastic is just a really lame version of Stretch Armstrong.
  • There's like, a thousand other superheroes perfectly capable of defeating Galactus.
  • Tony Stark's suit is the world's most advanced and most powerful weapon.
  • What did Richards ever build? A flying car; that's all.
