... and i was wondering who all has/will go and watch it?
I thought it was pretty good, but also very wierd.
I went in expecting a Tim Burtonized version of the traditional story, but I was happy to see I was wrong.

I'm not gonna bother; the characters seem really irritating, it seems more kiddy than gothic and too much unnecessary CGI.
It did not strike me as a kids movie
It's not a tim burton remake though is it? It's taken place after the original? She returns or something? If wouldn't mind explaining :) hehe thats just what i've read/seen. Looking forward to seeing when can :)
It does indeed take place after the original story and I think it works rather well
I'm not gonna bother; the characters seem really irritating, it seems more kiddy than gothic and too much unnecessary CGI.

It was average at best. To be honest it just shows exactly why Tim Burton is becoming boring. The only good character was the Cheshire cat because it was voiced by Stephen fry. The visuals were great but it just felt empty and soulless. Johnny Depp's mad hatter character was annoying as hell. He really tried way too hard and in the end I hated his character every time I saw him. Also that dance part at the end was one of the most awful and out of place scenes I have watched in ages. It was so forced and terrible especially with the song. It was quirky to the point where it just became monotonous to watch. The Avril Lavigne song during the credits was awful too. It had so many odd characters that could have worked well but they all just felt either annoying or pointless. Overall it just felt like a painfully shallow and dull film with only good visuals to make it stand out. Nowhere near as good as Tideland, which had a similar concept but did it much better. CGI can be great if done well but if used too much it becomes empty. The Imaginarium of doctor parnassus had amazing visuals but it also had an interesting story and characters to support the visuals. Alice in wonderland had the visuals but it lacked everything else. I would give it a 5/10.
the red queen in the trailer is enough for me to stay away from this movie and plus i hate tim burton with a passion
Hey Snakewiseman put in some spoiler tags.:| Thank you for spoiling the ending (unless it was a joke post?).>_>

Sorry but it just didn't look like you were joking lol. But since this is a disney movie that aim for everyone, I guess that ending wouldn't seem true.I guess I was tired when I read that.:P
Its funny because Avatar was exactly the same and everyone creamed over it.Whats all that about? It was average at best. To be honest it just shows exactly why Tim Burton is becoming boring. I saw it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I think it just lack a lot of the charm that made Alice in Wonderland pretty good and memorable to me. The movie was good at first but started to lose stream after a little while, and so does Johnny Depp, who was okay at first, but became meh and annoying. I did like Helena Bonham Carter (The Red Queen)and Stephen Fry (Cheshire Cat) through. They are the best parts of this movie IMO. The CGI was much better than I thought, but in some parts it still didn't look right to me.
I love Tim Burton, but he should work on something original again, because I think that where he really shines IMO.
And Film-Guy:
Yes that dance scene was just horrible. I just wanting to hate Tim Burton and Johnny Depp so much while seeing that. Thank god it was short
I have to pretty much disagree on almost all the points here (besides how awesome the visuals were and how out of place the song was on the end credits).
The movie turned out BETTER than I had expected. I loved all the characters and was very much charmed by Alice (don't know the actresses name off-hand but she did a hell of a job for debuting as a lead). The Cheshire Cat was AWESOME and I did enjoy the Mad Hatter and was at the same time pleasantly surprised to see that Depp hadn't overrun the film.
My favorite parts about the movie though were probably the theme of basically "If you are different don't just be what others want you to be" and the symbolism in the movie was simply excellent. I want to watch the movie again to see if I can spot anymore symbolism. I mean come on, the Red Queen has a huge head and surrounds herself with people who have a body part thats abnormally big (Basically representing her huge ego she has and how she surrounds herself with other big egos). In fact there is just simply an enourmous amount of symbolism through size alone.
Seriously, I just loved this movie and was so impressed with the huge amount of symbolism throughout and I also loved just how quirky a world Wonderland is.
