so I'm planning to sell my 1st generation touch and buy one one of the 2nd but I have question- I know it has build-in speakers, and that they work with the games but, do they also work with the music? the videos? I know it's kind of a silly question, but I gotta be sure in this

I've got one, yes, they work with everything that the earphones/buds do. Its even on a different channel or something, so you can have your speaker on full or completely off, and then when you plug the phones, it switches to 'phones' and it is on the last volume you had earphones on. (terrible description, yes? :P)

Also, i wouldn't really recommend selling a 1st gen iPod Touch for a 2nd gen, there are only small differences. I got another one because my first one died.
If you only end up losing 5-10 dollars, cool then.

Oui, theres about a year gap, they usually update their product lines in September.

I think its around the quality of the iPhone, though instead of visible speakers like on the iPhone, the speakers are placed inside the cord that you hook the iPod into the computer with. Its kinda strange.. :P

I find the speakers enough to serve their purpose; watching clips on youtube, maybe a movie, and occasionally sharing music with a couple people at the same time.

The external speaker control is probably the most usefull speaker. So much more convenient that digging your iPod out of your pocket, flicking it on, hitting "Home" twice, and adjusting the volume everytime someone talks to you, or you start walking on a busy street.
