Ithought it was great. The Carlos Mencia thing was awesome. I want to know who else caught the spider thing and who got the awesome movie reference when Carlos was talking to Kanye, a big cookie for who ever got it.

Last night's episode was good and was astronomically better than last weeks episode. The Kanye song at the end was hilarious.
Horrible episode. I think I laughed maybe twice at most.....only at the Cartman flashbacks.
But I guess Trey was to stick up for his buddy GWB, so he went after 2 guys who criticized him.
what the hell are you talking about? they made fun of them for good reasons, Mencia has stolen jokes and Kanye does have a huge ego, it is about time they went after those two.It was quite good. The Carlos Mencia thing was pretty funny, and I loved the bit where Kanye West was writing on his board. :P

I was clear what I was talking about. Trey (the main writer for SP) rarely, if ever, goes after Right-leaning people....probably because Trey is a conservative.
Don't get me wrong though, I don't have a problem with SP going after Kanye & Mencia. I just found the episode to be an unfunny hit job. I've enjoyed all the other episodes this season so far though.
It was one of those 'take an absurd concept and run with it' episodes. It was consistently funny.. Especially the ending  It was pretty weak when you compare it to other episodes that focus on Cartman though :P
manicfoot
Yeah, Cartman's episodes are usually great, like Scott Tenerman Must Die. Love that one. :P

Trey admitted to being a conservative, which I have no problem with
lol no one has yet to know the movie reference when Carlos is in the chair talking to Kanye, a cookie to who ever gets itSaintLeonidas
Some gangster movie, I'm guessing.

Agreed, which is why I was so disappointed last night. Usually the Jimmy eps are great too.

I don't think it was any kind of a political hit job (and I'm pretty damned left wing). Mencia is famous for his joke thefts and West is a nut job.[QUOTE="DaBrainz"]

Yeah the problem with your thinking is that only republicans are critical of liberals. Trey Parker is a Libertarian and not a Bush suppoter. I'm pretty sure that he even said he doesn't even vote in one of his interviews. Turdsandwhich vs giant douche anyone?

I have yet to hear a "Libertarian" sound any different than a conservative. :)
Im pretty sure it had to do with the guy who was paralzyed but could walk after being bitten by a spider, Jimmy kept saying "thanks you saved my life" when the bite might have been able to fix his legs.I caught the Black Widow thing, but I have no idea what it's significance was.

Or maybe I can edumicate you, just off the top of my head:
Libertarians:
Don't want companies to be bailed out (Like the republicans and GWB gave all that money to the banks and auto companies)
They want to end drug prohibition to decrease crime
They want to withdraw troops from Irag without undue delay
They want to repeal the patroit act and the Miltary Commisions act

OTher than Iraq & Patriot ACt points, that still sounds like conservative policies to me.
And I've never heard Boortz (the supposed standard bearer for Libertarians) call for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

I know why SP went after Kanye and MEncia though. I just didn't find it funny.
I personally love South Park as a whole, even though I disagree with some of the political statements Stone and Parker make. For example, I loved the episode "Manbearpig," and just kind of ignored the (not so subtle) jab at global warming. I did the same thing for "Red Hot Catholic Love" and what I perceived as a jab at atheism.
Like pretty much all this seasons episodes I thought it was fairly unfunny and boring. The only thing I found amusing was Kanye's inability to get the joke but the Mencia stuff is really dated and completely non relevant considering he's pretty much not on anybody's radar anymore and leaning on Rogan's trumped up charges of stealing jokes is...well, again really old and I can't imagine people really think about it that much anymore.

I don't think it was really meant to be going after liberal celebrities. I mean, come on, Kanye is an arrogant douche, and Mencia is not funny plus he just recycles jokes. That's pretty much what that episode said.
And, actually, I did appreciate the part of Red Hot Catholic Love where they criticized many fundamentalist Christians for being out of touch with reality/every life, but that's probably just because I agree with it :P.
I think they made a dead accurate Kanye West impersenation. Pretty good episode, but the "Economy" episode is my favorite of the season so far.Moroes
The Economy episode was good, but it was too preachy. I thought this new one was by far the best of the new season.
The episode sucked I liked how they made fun of Kanye but the song at the end had me on the floor laughing

Oh, Like Mel Gibson? Yeah I don't think you are accurately critiquing this in the slightest. The jokes as have been said are going after Mencia for stealing jokes, and Kanye for having a massive ego. That is beyond obvious. Not everything comes back to politics. And South Park makes fun of anything and everything, even themselves. Please Log In to post.
