So, of late I have seen several of these "rate my DVD collection" threads, and thought let's have a free for all.

Here are the rules, post the titles you own, read other people's collections and make comments. Posting your DVD collection is not mandatory for thread participation.

This is a great site where you can upload your collection for others to view in a simple format : http://www.dvdaf.com/

Alternatively, just post your title's in a thread.

Haven't collated your collection yet? this thread is a great opportunity/excuse to get an up to date list.

So post away, discuss each other's collections, what is good about them, what is bad? Who has the best films, who has the worst films? Rate them out of 10 is you'd like... whatever just get involved.

To get the ball rolling here is my collection courtesy of dvd aficionado.

I'm a noobie for collecting movies but I think I did good in my first year. :P

But with the Christmas money I've collected this year I want to buy more foreign movies like Amelie and L'age D'or. :D

Also your collection is grand. :o

It still has a way to go. A lot of classics I am waiting for special editions of, that includes 8 1/2, 12 Angry Men etc...

As for yours, a year and you have some quality titles, very impressive. Remember Amazon is your friend with DVDs... they are very cheap over here.

Yes, but you have Cool Hand Luke; that automatically makes it awesome. :P

I'm going in the opposite direction; most of my to buy list is made up of films released this decade. I find it much easier to find recently released films that I'd enjoy as opposed to older stuff.

I saw those movies in an HMV once but I'm not sure if it was special edition. Unfortunately my parents do not allow any purchases over the internet which disables my savings ability. :x

RobbieH1234

Sure when new stuff comes out I will go buy it if I liked it, or if I missed it at the cinema. But I suppose I take that for granted in the sense that I can just go out and get it. Older films are harder to get, and often the current releases are a poor quality. Hence if a remaster comes out I go for it right away.

I really like a lot of the stuff on your list, but I would weed out a lot of things too because they are films I'd watch twice at the most. The same can be said about me as well, which is why we are on the same boat. 9/10.

I certainly know there are mistakes in my purchasing. The problem I have is that I will look at something in a shop and sometimes impulsively purchase, it can pay off, but it can also be a mistake of I film I would never watch again.

I make the same mistakes too. I blind bought some of the stuff from my collection or purchased them after watching them once only to find out they do not have great repetitive value. From what I have experienced, it is usually the films that I do not like the first time, but leave a mark on my mind compelling me to watch it again that have the most repetitive value (like Sans Soleil or Yi Yi).

You picked some excellent films to start a collection with. :)

Wall-E on Blu Ray is amazing, that scene there, when they are inside his truck, the reflection on Eve of the lights and what not is "jaw dropping"

If you liked those you should probably get Spaced on DVD. It was the TV show the Pegg camp did before the films.

I've got over 300 movies in my collection so posting on this thread is going to take at least an entire days worth of typing.
