The answer is, simply, that I don't know.

I don't get why it's so hard for some people to say that. Now I don't believe in any "god" created by religion, that's not the question. The question is if there was an original creator to begin with or if the universe just existed. Personally, I think neither. I don't believe something can come out of nothing and I think that this question is too incredibly complex for us to understand at the moment.

So what do you believe and why? The Big Bang Theory because science supports it? God because a book tells you so? A giant indestructible waffle because it would be all-powerful and delicious? Or this?

Certain matters came together over time and started to link up, as time went on more and more matter got linked up and started to become visible, even more billion and if not trillion of years later a small moon could've been created, then another one, then a much larger planet, then a sun etc. More matter began to meet up with the other matter and starting to link up differently, over time creating organisms and ecosystem inwhich the organisms could live and evolve in. Eventually you come to the present day and it's all thanks to different matters linking up. That's my hypothesis at least.

Out of curiosity, have you examined the evidence that scientists provide for the Big Bang theory? They didn't exactly just make it up out of nothing.

Also, the Big Bang theory does not say that something came from nothing. No scientist has ever claimed to know what was before the Big Bang, or if there was anything before the Big Bang.

The origin of life is I dunno lol.

It's unknown to humans right now and jumping to any scientific theory or religion and saying it's true is just ignorant.

The only thing I've read about the Big Bang is that everything started as an "infinite singularity" which expanded. I've also "heard" what the Big Bang sounded like, and in all honesty it was more like a bassy wave.

Yes I have examined the evidence. I'm not going to argue with this too much since it's actually the theory I find most believable and I know there is huge amounts of evidence that support it. The fact is that matter had to start somewhere. It either always existed or something created it.

You don't get answers from a game forum concerning serious issues on the conflict between religion and science. For those interested in such, check out the debates of William Lane Craig. He's provided substantial information and reasons why God exists. He's on Youtube, btw.

Well, then you aren't arguing against the Big Bang theory. :P No scientist has ever claimed to know how the matter in the universe ultimately came into existence.

Yeah, and that's my point. Of course scientists don't claim to know that, science requires testable proof. My problem is with people that claim to "know" how it all came into place. And another thing: Just because it's a game forum doesn't mean intelligent discussion can't take place.

Yes, teach them well and let them lead the way. Considering the complexity and magnificence of life, I'd say there must've been an intelligent agent.

Now this is what I beilieve to be true because of the substantial amount of evidence that supports it. (to papermariofan57) Like I said before, we don't know, so stop making claims without evidence.

Nooooooo! :o As a future teacher I believe that the only way we can effectively change the world is by providing our children with the best education as possible. Education shapes a significant part of what they become and consequently what the world will be like in their generation.

Of course education is a tool, and as every tool it has both sides, that's why there is the danger of certain people trying to educate children in their own way (see Creationism theory.. >_>)

What evidence do you have to support that belief?

You can't have physical proof of a supernaturally caused event. It's not like you are going to find a stamp mark at the edge of the universe that says "Made by The Christian God". That'd be like me saying that a ghost pushed a cup that was located behind me. I can't prove it's a ghost, all I can prove is that a cup that was behind me fell.

Isn't it obvious? It's both. God is a scientist. He was so bored one day though that he created laws that govern our universe. Those laws were called science. He created a seperate branch for morals and stuff called religion. Anyways, God, being all powerful but also bored out of his mind because there was nothing to do, created a huge clump of mass. Then it exploded. That event was called the Big Bang. So God perfected his formula and gave these weirdos called humans some free will to see what would happen. Thus, Earth was born.

Just a question.

If god does exist why would he focus on humans?

Seems almost as if the existance of god is just something made by humans that just became tradition.

[QUOTE="supa_badman"]you cant really work the big bang without something before that, or something creating it.xaos
Umm, the creation event is believed to be the origin of time; there quite literally is no before as we know it

if time was a creation then something created time. as some theists put it, god made time, and god lives outside time.

I created a topic but people were more interested in correcting my terminology that answering the ******* question so I'll go here:

I think any kind of creaionism other than intelligent design is crazy. How could all organisms just poof onto earth? and what about the geological proof that Genesis is wrong in terms of time (NO WAY that earth is only thousands of years old).

You don't get answers from a game forum concerning serious issues on the conflict between religion and science. For those interested in such, check out the debates of William Lane Craig. He's provided substantial information and reasons why God exists. He's on Youtube, btw.gloomy_druid
Also look up "The Amazing Atheist", he has more logical reasons as to why God probably doesn't exist.
