The original Willy Wonka was sooo much better than the Turd Burton remake

Seriously, the original was just so darn magical and timeless, and the music was absolutely splendid.  I don't care if Charlie and the Chocolate factory was supposed to be more like the book, the plain truth is that the remake is so rediculous and uninspired I could barely make it through the first sitting.  Grandpa Joe was lame and his little "Yippee!" upon hearing the good news doesn't hold a candle to the orignal.  All the new Oompa Loompa Songs sucked. All the stupid side stories with Wonka were dumb and uninteresting and took away from the flow of the movie.  And last but not least, Johnny Depp pales in compaison to Gene Wilder. 

To me, it seems that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was nothing more than a commercial push to get the emo kids to buy more trashy Tim Burton licensed clothing from Hot Topic. Give me the original ANY day!

Willy Wonka was nothing more than a drugged up musical. Take away the flashbacks and Tim Burton's movie would've been just fine. As it is i give Charlie a 3.5/5 and Willy Wonka a 2/5.

the only reason willy wonka became a classic was because it was shown on tv so many arn times. nobody watched it when it was in the theaters. anyways, i must agree..the original one was much better then the johnny depp/michael jackson version

There should've been an option for both.  Both films took an entirely different approach with the material, and I like 'em nearly equally.

But, if I had to pick, I'd choose Johnny Depp's take on the character of Willy Wonka over Gene Wilder's.

I liked the new one but I liked the old one better. The Oompa Loompas are scarier in the old one though.

I didn't mind the remake. I liked Charlie's parents, the Veruca Salt song was good, and I preferred Depp's Wonka to Wilder's Wonka.

The original Willy wonka was susposed to act in the remake but his statements said were that the remake movie was just to make money on a classic.  Original ftw!

i like the burtons one. his movies arent for everyone, hes not a crowd pleaser like spielberg but uniqe. and in filmaking uniquess is a gift.

My only gripe about the remake was the lack of midgets and the original songs. Other than that it was okay.

Eh, neither of them were that great. The only truly spectacular moment (not counting the fates of the li'l tikes) in the first movie was the tunnel sequence, and the second version didn't even include that...
