OMG! im a believer! bow before the great raptor jesus!
All bow down to raptor jesus, for he is wise and all knowing!
and he demands so little. just he just wants you to attend church once a week and bring those nice tasty babies.
That's just horrible. I may believe in God, but I don't believe in religion, and saying the lords prayer at school, I would reject to that because religion is too damn corrupt these days and I honor God in my own way.Bluestorm-Kalas
same here. Religions nowadays take things way too far.

Indeed, babies shall be sacrificed to him by the thousands! From every corner of the world! Glory to RAPTOR JESUS!
Someone who was different was made fun of in high-school, go figure.
Seriously though, I don't expect much from kids in middle or high school, but if the teachers and coaches were really belittling that girl because she's not a Christian they need a boot to the ass.

AMEN! this is a much better idea than the golden calf. RAPTOR JESUS!
Whatever happened to walking in a line, slapping hands and saying "Good game." The "Lord's Prayer" at a high school athletics event. Sheesh.

Thank "god" for that 9%.

Hilarious because its true. Seriously though, the anonymity of the intrawebs is the main reason I think. They don't want to get made fun of (judging from the movie as well, most wouldn't do what the girl did)

I disagree. Gamespot poster are largely (or at least disproportionately) atheist simply because.

because its one of the only places where they can openly discuss it, w/o fear of insult (it would be against TOS if someone did) and because Athiests don't usually gather together for discussion in a church or whatever (the exception being in the vid, they had that convention thing)

In my personal life I am only careful about how I breech the subject of not believing in a god because I don't want to come across as being hostile towards those who do. Saying, "Meh, I don't believe in God" can really put a believer on the defensive.
I've only had my beliefs interfere with one relationship that I know of. Someone was asking me about my religious perspective on abortion. I expressed that I wasn't a spiritual person and that I was pro-choice. She said, "I will pray for you" and walked away. So lame, but I expect as much from self-righteous asshats. All but one of my friend's are ether Christian, Jewish or Muslim and we all manage to get along just fine.
I just don't get people who can't be friends due to religious or political differences. I swear I know 40 year olds who have yet to become "grown ups."

Again, I disagree. I don't think people say, "I'm an atheist, but I'm afraid to admit it. I know, I'll go talk about it on the GS OT forums."

I guess the reason is because their different beliefs make them feel good, and the sheer fact that other people can't accept their belief system is a bad thing to them.

you're talking about it as if its conscious thought, its not actually, its sub-conscious. And by places, I should have been more clear, I meant the internet, but more specifically the GS forums because of the rules and regulations that prohibit flaming.
You disagree with both of my posts, yet you have no answer as to why it seems a large portion of users are indeed athiests when only 6 percent of America is (I know other countries come to this site, but the fact still remains valid).
Its not just "because".
Wow I didn't know the States was that Religous, Im Athiest and most of my friends are also, and no one at school really cares what you beleive in *BTW im live in Canada*...I wish I was in that girls school...omfg I would have some good times in there :twisted:MidnightSashaIt's mainly the south that's religious. So many different sects of Christianity here. So so many churches.
I think it's pretty common in the southern states. I know that at all of the games the band prayed before they performed their drill. It was kind of an uncomfortable situation.Whatever happened to walking in a line, slapping hands and saying "Good game." The "Lord's Prayer" at a high school athletics event. Sheesh.

lol, that whole 9% must live near me or something because barely anyone I know believes in a religous god. =\ Just all the old people.
You can't honor God in your own way and reject the Lord's prayer in school. That's denying God. And as far as honoring God in your own way, the Bible clearly states not to forsake gathering together which means you should be going to church on a regular basis. You're not a true believer and follower of Jesus based on your own statements.cukooIt's a freaking public school!
Also, teachers who tell children to get out because of their belief in God, well, they shouldn't be teaching.
I summon Raptor Jesus into play.
