Yea, what he said was crazy and insensitive, but I've heard some similar things from family members. I'm Nigerian, and Nigerians/Haitians/Jamaicans tend to believe in this voodoo BS, it's considered witchcraft. "Well, that is what he believes" is appropriate to an extent.

But to say a whole country deserves a natural disaster like that is pushing it, and definately out of the boundaries of tolerance.

This is the same guy that said Hurricane Katrina was punishment for New Orleans tolerating gays. Which is also a bit ironic, considering the French Quarter (where the majority of gays live) was the only area relatively untouched by the hurricane lol.
