Long answer: hell yes.

Cormac McCarthy is a great author, I enjoyed All the Pretty Horses and No Country for Old Men.

I personally did not particularly enjoy it, although I recognize that it is a great novel. I would personally recommend Blood Meridian, No Country for Old Men, and All the Pretty Horses if you want to read something by Cormac McCarthy.

If you like depressing post-apocalyptic stories, you'll love The Road.

There are parts that might disturb you (Such as the baby and pregnant woman part), or just make you grossed out (Like the basement part when they come across that one house with the lock on the basement door), but its an incredible book.

Yes. Absolutely yes. Hardest book ever to get through, but it was so worth it.

Cormac McCarthy is my favorite author ever.

It really is an amazing book. It's depressing as hell, but there's a prevailing sense of hopefulness throughout.

I don't understand why people say it was hard to get through. The dialouge and short sentences set a fast pace for me, and I got through it in about an hour. It was an excellent book. I liked his others (all the pretty horses specifically) but I think his still fit The Road better. The themes throughout are interesting to pull apart, and the subtle characterization was worth applause. I'm interested to see how the movie will turn out.

It's an experience worth having, but the book's tone is grim and depressing for the most part. It depends on what you're looking for.

I am reading it right now and I recommend it. It can be hard to read at times because of the lack of commas and one word sentences. But I like the way it flows

I didn't particularly like it, but it was kind of fun and certainly an easy read.

I'll go against the grain a bit it say that I would not recommend reading it AT THIS TIME. I've heard that fathers who read the book are able to get much more out of it than single, 20-something males, so you may want to wait for a time when you are a father. I ended up reading it and wasn't too impressed to be honest (it is a good book but didn't live up to all the hype). I preferred No Country for Old Men. I do still plan on seeing "The Road" in theaters.

I liked it a lot. It is depressing though, so be prepared if you buy it.
