i can name three movies that do this; Blair Witch Project, Cannibal Holocaust, and Cloverfield. i have seen neither Blair Witch nor Cloverfield, but i plan on seeing Cloverfield VERY soon. i thought Cannibal Holocaust did a great job with it, seeing as how it is the first movie (to my knowledge) that has used that effect. unfortunately not many people have seen it because it's been banned in most countries and is pretty rare; but i believe Grindhouse has released (or is planning to) release a special edition of the movie. whether it is heavily edited or not, i do not know.

i have a question for those who've seen Cloverfield. WHAT THE HELL DOES THE MONSTER LOOK LIKE? and.. does the shaky-camera-realism effect hinder the overall experience?

I hate that camera effect, some war movies and games use it. It pisses me off because it's kind of hard to see what's actually going on. :x

didnt bother me at all.

just keep in mind that the person holden the camera isnt the damn guy from the tv show cops. how he can run and keep a steady camera at the same time. when he needs to he will run or toss the camera when needed.

I think it works well in some cases. There's this movie called All About Lily Chou-Chou where 40 minutes of the movie is seen through the cameras of the main characters in the story when they take a trip to Okinawa. I personally thought that it worked really well.

I really like it, The Bourne Ultimatum was a lot of fun for me, I enjoyed the camerawork there.

Dumb.

The Bourne sequels were good movies, but damn if I didn't wish they'd actually mounted some of those cameras. The whole "teehee, it makes the action scenes more intense and puts the audience in the moment" has some merit but sometimes it's almost used to mask poor filmmaking skills, staging, etc. I can get two people to wail on each other and film it by swishing a camera back and forth and make people think it might be somewhat choreographed.

Agreed, it can be used improperly. But in that fight scene against The Asset it was perfect :D THAT was wild.

It works in some movie, not in others. I like how it emerges you more as a viewer. Come and See is a great example of it used correctly.
