The song "Prodigal Son" by Iron Maiden is really mistitled.

The song has absolutely nothing to do with the parable of the Prodigal Son. He speaks to "Lamia" in the song. Lamia is a Greek mythological creature. It has nothing to do with the Bible or anything. So why isn't the song called "Lamia"? And why is he asking Lamia for help? Lamia is a wicked and evil demon. She wouldn't help anyone.

Why give a song a title that has no relevance to it? That's like if I made a song about waffles and called it "Hamburgers".

Why is it called "Prodigal Son" when it's talking about "Lamia" and not the Prodgial Son? Did Steve think it would sound more mystical given a title with no relevance?

Well I don't know why he's talking to Lamia, but the lyrics suggest he feels misled and trapped. The prodigal son was misled before he came home, so maybe it's the emotions he had before he returned? Best I could come up with.

I'm not. I'm just wondering why the title of this one song doesn't match the song itself.

Never thought I'd see a thread about this, anywhere on the internet, and especially not Gamespot. You sir, have left me dumbfounded. The only logical explanation I can come up with is... It's Iron Maiden, they can make songs about cows taking a dump and I'd probably find it amazing :P
