@frenud02: "But its an amazing movie"

Is it fast or slow paced?

It's actually pretty slow until the climax.

@PSP107:

Its pretty decent pace. Much better than 1990s in my opinion.

I finally saw it on Tuesday, and I loved it. It's definitely not the best movie based on King as some have said, but it took a very difficult task and performed it admirably.

The beginning is kind of slow and choppy, but that's really because it had the difficult task of introducing all the characters (which is a lot in this book!) , their relationships to each other, their relationships to their parents (which is pretty important to the themes of the movie), and their individual introductions to IT. This takes hundreds of pages in the book, and the movie does it fairly convincingly in an hour. That foundation provides the strong characterization base that the book relies on to convey it's themes, and it's pretty easy riding from there.

I'm interested in how they tackle they sequel as those parts of the book were the weakest in terms of character connection, and that movie is going to lump them all together without the other portions providing the emotional glue.

I hold it in regard as it will actually be the next movie I purchase on Amazon Prime.

Still won't reach novel levels, however, where all the wonderful children participate in an orgy at the end. (dead serious, look it up)

@InEMplease: You know what kills me about that part? It doesn't even do it's job well. King included that extremely awkward and out of place scene in order to transition the group from childhood to adulthood, yet the movie did the same thing with two shots (one early and one late) of Mike Hanlon that are so fluid and natural that the viewer doesn't even recognize them as a replacement for that scene unless he's looking for it.

@mattbbpl: All for the best I'd say. We may be as screwed as a society as ever there was, but a visual depiction of an underage orgy, is for some strange reason, unacceptable.
