Before I start: DO NOT MAKE THIS A RAZR vs. NEXUS/iPHONE/Whatever else THREAD! THAT IS NOT THE POINT, PLEASE DO NOT DO IT.

I made a thread earlier today about return policies regarding the droid razr under contract, but now I want to ask about the phone itself. I am asking you guys, sincerely, to be honest when answering this question. I have been getting so much in the way of answers that I don't trust, and it's really annoying the hell out of me! So here are my questions about the droid razr:

1) How long does the battery really last? I have heard anywhere from 2-12 hours, and I want to the real story. With good power settings (brightness to auto, 4g to off unless necessary, etc.), and moderate to heavy use, what kind of life can I expect from my phone (heavy texting, moderate web-browsing via WiFi)

2) What kind of glitches have you encountered? Does opening facebook cause the phone to crash? When the phone freezes, because you cannot remove the battery, do you have to just wait for the battery to die completely, or is there some way to reboot a frozen phone? How often have you had phone freezes (and when did you get the phone?)?

3) Are you HAPPY with your Razr? If not, please say why, and if so, let me know how it met your expectations and how you use it.

As I said at the beginning, this is for information specifically pertaining to the Razr, not ANY OTHER PHONE! Do not make comparisons or competitions. I would love to be able to have that as a part of a mature discussion, but every time it comes up it turns into an all out war. Thanks for your replies guys!

1. Expect about 6 hours. My advice would be to root it and remove the bloatware apps. This should help you get another hour or so. Alternatively, you could exchange for the Razr Maxx.

2. Random reboots and issues with switching between 3G and 4G. If the phone freezes, which is quite rare, there is a button press to reset it.

3. I own the Droid 3, but had a borrowed Razr for a few days(know some higher ups at Verizon.) My biggest gripe with the phone was the battery life. Going from a phone where I get about 20 hours to a phone where I got 6 at best wasn't fun. I loved the screen, though it had horrible green tinges at low brightness levels. That said, I was happy with it. It's fast and snappy, I like the stock software, and it's very thin and feels nice in hand.

Personally, I prefer the Nexus, BUT that's because I am in to rooting and ROMs and the unlockable bootloader makes everything much easier. The Razr is definitely my next favorite though. If you don't care about custom ROMs and not having ICS, then I think you will be very happy with the Razr.

Good lord, this again. If you're worried about battery life, don't get a 4.3 inch LTE phone or else take your charger with you. If you're worried about glitches and don't care about spending a milllion years customising your phone, don't get android. Get an iphone or Windows Phone 7.

Gonna get the Droid Razr, and if it glitches out or battery is just unreasonable, gonna return it and swap for an iPhone 4S

4G uses a LOT more power than 3G. 6 hours is fine if you use it frequently on browsing, 4G using widgets and such. If you use less 4Gconflict and don't play games to it can last longee. Also you can dl power widget management apps. Good phone.

the thing I didn't know which is kinda crappy is that the area where I live (Burlington, VT), doesn't have 4G coverage, so basically 4G is worthless to me 70% of the time. Every other weekend when I go home, and breaks/summer I can use it in Albany, but most of the time, it won't even matter

Then turn off 4G so it's not constantly pinging for it and you'll add about 3-5 hours on the battery.

If battery life really concerns you try to wait for the Razr Maxx. It's going to have a much better battery of about 21.5hrs of talk time and like 15hrs of watching video. It will be about $100 more expensive than the Razr but really it seems worth it. I have a Galaxy S which i got as part of a free upgrade that i like quite a bit. But back when i got my phone the newest phones were not much better and far more costly. Im going to have to wait another 1.5hrs to upgrade though if i was about to pay a good sum of money for a new phone i would wait for the Maxx since i dont like having to constantly charge and worry about the battery state.

If I don't like the Razr and want to return it, the only other phone I would consider/can get is the 16gb iPhone 4s, which considering I am in a 3G area, doesn't seem like a downgrade. It's budget neutral, and because I cant upgrade to a MAXX (don't have the extra 100 bucks), it's my only other option.

That is also very true. I have the same problem since 4G doesnt even come close to where i live or even where i work. Also if you dont have an iTouch or any iPod then the iPhone may be a really great phone for you. Not to mention all the apps that are on average either on iPhone first or even only. Though i think with the Razr you would like it and i havent heard of any major faults of the phone. There are still a ton of other great phone choices from Verizon if you were unhappy with the Razr.

Yeah, that's true, but I have looked and none of them are really that interesting to me... these were the only two phones for my price that I really liked. I'm sure I would like the iPhone just fine, but I would rather that my Razr just work out lol

What? I get like 12 hours on heavy use and about 24 with moderate. I haven't had any problems with mine, I love it. I love the build quality, the way it feels in hand, and I even like Blur on this. Amazing phone and glad I went with it over the Nexus.
