The Universe

The Universe is defined as everything that physicallyexists: the entirety of space and time,

all forms of matter, energy and momentum, and the physical laws and constants that govern them.

The Universe is massive. The human mind cannot imagine or calculate how massive the universe really is.

We may never know the exact size of the Universe. Is there even an exact size at all? Who knows?

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) site estimates there are hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe.

There are probably billions of planets out there with life on them...

We don't know this for sure. What other life forms would YOU like to see?

I would like to see Lombaxes. A whole planet full of them. That would be so cool.

You can also post pictures if you can't really describe it in words.

Each spec of light in this image is an entire galaxy.

Actually, this universe is a fictitious world my mind created because I'm in a coma. Sorry everyone, but I'm about to wake up :(

It's a strange thing because the universe is so freakin big. From what we know of earth, we may think that nothing can live unlike what is here. But the truth is what if there were giant dragon-mutant-superman people living on a world where they don't breath, they don't sleep, they don't eat, none of that. What if we're int he matrix, you don't know.

I think the universe is actually just fungus on the inside of a glass held by The Creator! All Hail The Creator! But seriously, it would be cool to think we are that small.

I always wondered if I came from another planet and there was a whole planet of people that looked and acted like me. It would be cool to live on said planet.

I believe there are probably hundreds of thousands of other life forms similar to us. There are plants, animals and species being discovered on Earth still.

EDIT: We dont even know every species of planets, and animals on our own planet. Earth is huge, comparing the Universe to Earth is like comparing a penny to Earth. (I think its actually bigger, maybe even Earth compared to an atom.)

Probably won't see extra terrestial life for another 600,000 years. We got a lot of work to do if we ever want to traverse far within the universe.

There is other life. To think other wise is just bloody ignorant. Hundreds of millions of galaxies with trillions of stars in each...but yeah, it's just us. I don't think so. We can see like 1% of the universe and have checked about 1% of that 1%.

Actually we have found hundreds of stars that could support life planets and already found 1 planet like ours only 20 light years away. That's pretty close to be such a rare object in the galaxy so close to each other.

To think we are the only life in the universe, something so big we couldn't even grasp it it would be impossible. Even if there was a tiny 0.1% random chance that life was formed. There would still be millions of planets full of life.

Planets are so far away from each other. It would take years to get to a hospitable planet even at lightspeed, but it would be very amazing when we first see intelligient life. Though it would be a very long time untill that happens.

It proves than even if it was random chance it would happen again. We've found the building blocks needed to start life thousands of light years away. It's out there and it would have happened before. Think of it like this; You stand on the shore at a beach. You look in the water and see a single fish. Because you can't see any others you claim that fish is the only fish on the ocean even when you can only see a tiny bit of the entire sea. Oh and yeah, garfield is awesome. :P

MUCH MUCH Less than 1%.

More like 1/1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

We haven't even explored 1% of our own Galaxy, The Milky Way.

There are hundreds of billions of other galaxies that we can see (as far as our telescopes can see).

Subspace or warp drives could fix that but that is way beyond anything in even our grand kids lifetimes probably.

Yeah, this is based on what we see...check this out:

A supercomputer-produced cross-section of part of the universe shows galaxies as brighter dots along filaments of matter, with a sea of dark energy filling in between the galactic islands.

A ghostly ring of dark matter floating in the galaxy cluster ZwCl0024+1652, one of the strongest pieces of evidence to date for the existence of dark matter. Astronomers think the dark-matter ring was produced from a collision between two gigantic clusters.

[QUOTE="halo3-player"][QUOTE="darklord888"][QUOTE="Jandurin"] And? The universe is full of possibility.

To think we are the only life in the universe, something so big we couldn't even grasp it it would be impossible. Even if there was a tiny 0.1% random chance that life was formed. There would still be millions of planets full of life.

1/10 isn't so small when it comes to the infinte gasp of SPAAAAAACE (Dramatic voice end)

0.1% isn't 1/10. That would be 10%

We know what meteors are made of already....lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteor

Correction, we know what meteors near us(the earth) are made of. ;)
