Actually I see the world completely differently, the world has plenty of space, it has plenty of water, it has plenty of food, enough for everyone and then some.
The major problem with something like lack of food is access to it or lack of money to buy it. It's the cost of say transporting a bag of rice from thailand to Sudan that is not feasible for the government or for the people. It's not because there is no rice for them, there is plenty of rice but no means to access.
If you remember the Ethiopia famine in 1984 it wasn't that there was no food in the shops or in the markets, it was no one had money to buy any so they were starving.
That's the kind of world we live in.
Hai guys! Guess what time it is?

Death Note time? hmmm.... give me a Death Note and all the photo IDs you can find... a yearbook works fine, too.

SO you would be happy with no open spaces in the parts of the world that are reasonably habitable?Actually I see the world completely differently, the world has plenty of space, it has plenty of water, it has plenty of food, enough for everyone and then some.

The world's population is growing super-exponentially. Maybe people should be praising all those countries starting wars :?

What are you on about? Half the world has sparse population. I don't think you've seen anything of the world. Look at Kazakhstan as an example huge fertile plains with no people living there. Same goes for huge areas of the US, it's BS to say the US is overcrowded, you may be right to say NY is overcrowded or LA is overcrowded but to say the US is overcrowded is scare-mongering.

Of course lets kill them because we need their food and space. Sieg Heil much.

:| So you're OK for the eradication of human beings but not animals. As much as I value animal life I do not and never will hold it equal to a human life.
Secondly you can herd these animals and use them and live peacefully amongst them. Stop thinking in western industrialist terms where everything must be a huge urban block, you could keep these animals as part of your home or have farms operate freely on the common land.
I hope some people in this thread are joking (^^ above), otherwise :?. My sarcasm detector was trampled on by System Wars so I can't tell. HoobinatorI am just joking... or am I? Nah just playin... or am I?
Maybe certain poorer countries need greater access to condoms. Seriously, why have a family of 10 children when you can't even afford it?GettingTiredI actually heard the reason for this is that they don't know that having sex will make a baby pop out... I would like to know if this is true or not, as in they don't know sex = babies.

You do know that while birth rates are falling in developed countries such as Japan, the US, and the UK, that the birth rates are exploding in places like Ethiopia right? Here's some statistics from my sociology class:
- Currently, the world is gaining 73 million people per year with 96% of this increase in poor countries
- Growth rates are highest in poor, underdeveloped nations. Latin America has a growth rate of 2%, meaning its population will double in 35 years. Africa has a growth rate of 3% meanig their population will double in 24 years. In contrast, the US has a growth rate of 0.5%, and Europe as a whole has a growth rate of -0.2% (meaning their population is decreasing).
In other words, the people who should be having kids aren't, and the people who shouldn't be having kids are. Just because there's plenty of room left in the world doesn't mean it isn't overcrowded. You're forgetting things like availbility of things like food and water. Those sparsely populated areas you mention don't have enough resources to maintain their populations (in other words they're overcrowded). The truth is that the world doesn't have the resources to keep 11 billion people alive (which is what the projected population will be by 2100).
This is BS,.., the world is in NO WAY overcrowded.,., the global food supply is higher than it has ever been!,. there are millions upon millions of miles of uninhabited land.,.,
people, dont ever let anyone tell you we are running out of food or land

Yep. :D Although the access to that food and water is severely limited for half the worlds population.
So many issues in the world come back to the fact that the world can only support a limited population reasonably and we passed that point a while ago. The world already over populated is growing at 1.3% a year or 80 million people and isnt going to stabilise till 2050 at around 8 billion. The enviromental issues, over crowding, malnutrition, social strife ( in many areas not all), limited resources and a break down of morals in some areas can all be traced to the huge population sizes we have today. I see this issue so rarely covered in tv, newspapers and other media I would imagine due to it being such a sensitive issue. So hard to think of a way round the issue, to find a solution that doesnt cause huge issues in itself. China took the first step with its one child policy but this leads to children being killed because of the wrong sex e.g. not male and huge social issues for example how to pay for an aging population. I have no answers I just wanted to open the issue up and something that will be larger than terrorism, global warming or any other issue once people stop being scared of discussing the future of humankind how contentious it maybe.AcidJilesThe world isn't over populated, we are only over populated in some areas of the world. Many places in the world especially America Have less people with in 1000s of miles than 40 miles of LA.
