Just how insane is the record-setting waterslide currently being erected at the Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark? Let's just say they didn't name it Verruckt (that's German for "insane") for nothing.

Dubbed "the world’s tallest, fastest and most extreme waterslide," the VERRUCKT MEG-A-BLASTER will reportedly "tower" over the current tallest waterslide — Brazil's 134.5-foot tall "Insano."

The final height will be formally announced once construction has been completed.

Not insane enough for you? You might think differently once you're "speed sliding" down the Verruckt at over 65 miles per hour with three of your buddies.

That's right: The Meg-A-Blaster is a four-person raft slide with an extra hump thrown in for good measure.

Announced last year and originally slated to open this year, the project is now expected to be completed in time for Opening Day 2014.

"This new MEG-A-BLASTER speed-slide is going to wow our guests and is going to be a game changer for our industry," Schlitterbahn co-owner Jeff Henry said in a statement. "Our greatest challenge will be to find thrill seekers brave enough to ride."

Would you go on this monstrosity?

Word. I'm wondering why that second ramp is there... there's no way you wouldn't fly right off the slide when you hit it.

i'm sure there's extra water in the trough there to slow the raft down before it hits the hump.

That's the thing that freaks me out about open water slides like that. I'd be too afraid I'd go over and hit the concrete instead of the pool at the bottom.

The profile shot here gives a better view of the second hump. The other pictures make it look more pronounced than it is.

So they are just going to send people flying at the end there? I can only see that hump being bad news for what is going to be a gigantic slide....

It's a four person raft. No less than four ppl can ride so I doubt it will be a problem.

Brings back good memories of Roller Coaster Tycoon making crazy water slides that people fly off of.

It couldn't be any worse that this:

Sorry about the pic quality.

For those who grew up in the NJ/NY area in the '80s and '90s, they'll recongize this. It's the Cannonball Loop water slide from the old Action Park in Vernon, NJ. It was only open for a few weeks before they closed the ride because people kept getting hurt. They had to build a trap door to get people out who got stuck, and even the park's owner would offer employees $100 for those who had the balls to slide down on it.

My parents never let me go to there when i was a kid, and when I got older, I found out why--the park was a literal death trap. Dozens of injuries and a few deaths--and the park was open for almost 20 years.

How does someone's body even bend that much in that loop?

I went on this thing (not my body in the pic) which had me really anxious. Thought I was gonna have a heart attack waiting for that thing to drop. It was worth it, though.

Would definitely go on that one.

Well, well, well, at least the people making these things know how crazy stupid it is to have a really big water slide.

been to action park once when i was a little kid.. all i remember was the water being freezing cold and i got hurt a little bit on some rubber waterslide.. they closed the park before i was old enough to get seriously injured on those alpine slides. now it's mountain creek and from what i've heard, much tamer.

good read on it's history for those interested: http://weirdnj.com/stories/action-park/

Picture is small, but from this angle, you can see that it isn't going to send people flying.

That was the fun part--they didn't. Most people wound up stuck on the bottom and never even made it halfway up the loop. To top it off, the bottom of it was filled with putrid, statnant water because there was no way to flush it out.
