We have plenty of "what's your favorite book" topics, but not that many "what books would you gladly give to the book-burning mobile" topics. So name the three books you hate the most. In order from most hated to least hated (but still hated):

1. The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. I hate this book so, so much, and I just read it today.

2. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. It was very, very boring, but unlike TSAR, stuff happened, and there was a moral to the story, which I also hated.

3. Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes. If I were to try to read this book today, I could probably appreciate it a hell of a lot more than I did when I was younger. But when I was younger, this book was what I used to get to sleep at night. I never even finished it. I'm not interested in doing so.

So name the books you despise and why you hate them so much.

The Darkest Night of the Year by Dean Koontz.....what made ti so bad is that it was a great book ...fast paced...fun to read right up until the end when it just...well ended....all this buildup for absolutely nothing.....it's like he was worried about going over a word limit or something....total let down....thankfully I only got it for a quarter at a lawn Sale....

Essentially every summer reading book I've had to read aside from And Then There Were None and Ender's Game. We had to read a particularly terrible one called Mister Pip last year. It was easily one of the most drawn out and uninteresting books I've ever had to read. And I honestly hated Catcher in the Rye. It was overrated, angsty teenager garbage.

The Bible.

I put it down after the first few pages when it became clear that the whole plotline was laughably implausible.

The story is alright and original for the time. But the writing and story development itself sucks.

Nope. In the end all these random characters who have nothing to do with each other (besides the fact that they all met the main character) end up being linked.

Catcher in the Rye. I freaking hated this book. All my English teachers were shocked but no it sucked. Holden Caufield needs to sit down and shut up. Could there be a more annoying protagonist? I don't think so.

The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. I couldn't understand how a book written for children could contain so many highfalutin words. The Supernaturalist was a better read though.

I've read Stephen King before, but that book, I really didn't like it.

My favorite book is Ender's Game, if that says anything about me.

The Awakening by Kate Chopin -- SO DREADFUL! I had to read that for summer reading before 11th grade English. It was a short book but it took me all summer to read it. I could only stand a couple of pages a day. I also didn't like Catcher in the Rye.

The Grapes of Wrath. But maybe that's just because my teacher picked out the smallest details to be on quizzes so you couldn't get the answers off sparknotes. I had to read every single word carefully :x

The Giver. :|

I haven't fully read many bad books, so the next few are questionable with their badness.

*biggest flame shield ever here* Catcher in the Rye. People who complain too much annoy me, plus we analyzed the **** out of it in 2 different english classes I've taken. :x

Halo: The Flood. "The Chief slapped a fresh mag into his MA5B". There, now you've read 60% of the book.

"Brahman: A Comparative Theology" by Michael Warren Myers. I was expecting an unbiased compare/contrast between the Indian concept of Brahman and the Western concept of "God," but all I got was a Christian-biased interpretation of what the author "thought" Brahman was. I got about 25 pages into the book before I gave up. It was frustrating. But it was all redeemed afterwards when I read R. K. Garg's "Upanisadic Challenge to Science." Good book.

I'd have to agree that it was a horrible book. It was just so boring, and I'm tired reading about some family in the south that has problems. But the worst book I've read is Feels Like Home. Just an all-around horrible book. I could never get into the characters, they just seemed so...cardboard. The whiney protagonist, the perfect boy she thought she couldn't get, the dysfunctional family, etc. It just wasn't entertaining.

I thought the idea of the story was very brillant but i hated how their were so many characters. I forgot if _____ was the rooster or whatever. I also thought it got kinda boring in the middle of story but idk. I felt like it was story that could have been a lot better.

I think when people go back and read some of those classics that were already mentioned when you're in your 30's, you might appreciate them more.
