Instead of having Chamberlain pitch from the 6th inning on they use him as a starter knowing he's only going to throw about 40 pitches. So when he's done after 2 1/3 innings the bullpen is now crippled cause they had to use them for 6 2/3 innings. So now the bullpen is tired for the next few days. This organization is really in shambles. The Red Sox bring up minor leaguers when their ready to play at a big league level. That is why they have success with their young guys. The Yankees just throw any young pitcher on the mound and slap the prospect tag on him to try to act like they have as good a minor league as the Red Sox do. It really wouldn't surprise me if the Yankees finish third or fourth in the division this year.MM87
That's what has happened for the last few years. These guys don't play until the second half of the season but, I'll agree the malaise seems to have set in a bit deeper this year.
They aren't in shambles, i know this because ESPN Radio has told me that Joba Chamberlin is the greatest player of all time.
You struck out Pat Burrell, FIST PUMP AND SCREAM!!!!!
But in all seriousness yes they are going to be in trouble for a long time because the red sox are going to have good pitching for the next few years.
IThey should've just traded A-Rod when they had the chance or at least let him go after the season and sign some younger players instead of wasting all that money on him.elblanquito_81I disagree. A-Rod is arguably the best baseball player of all time. The Yankees need to build the team around him, not trade him.

Haha. And you know since ESPN said it, it must be true.

Honestly, we might as well call it a season. I mean the Yankees are going to win the WS behind Joba Chaimberlain, who will pitch every single day, and throw a perfect game every day as well. Except for double headers of course, then he will be too tired for the second game and only throw a no hitter. Oh, and NONE of his pitches will go under 100 mph...not even his curveball. Yep, just a formality now.

Greatest player or not, he hasn't done much to help them win a championship. The smart thing to have done was let him walk. Not too many teams were interested in him after the way he opted out, so they really had him by the nuts and could've signed him for way less than they did. The money they would've saved would've allowed them some room to go after Texiera when he becomes a free agent after the season and finally be able to dump Giambi (who I think is nearing the end of his contract).
And a team is built primarily around pitching. What they should've done was trade some of their prospects and gotten Santana (not that us Mets fans are complaining). That's a guy you build a team around.
