To the best of our knowledge, yes, Native Americans crossed the Bering Straight and populated North and South America. Fact of the matter is, they were there before any Europeans settlers, and claimed that land for their own. When European settlers came over to the Americas, they forcefully took that land. And in some case, enslaved and butchered the natives. The land was stolen and the natives were continually pushed westward.
There are no "Native Americans". Everone on this planet came from somewhere else. Everyone is an immigrant, not just most Americans. The North American Indians came from Russia. The Mexicans and other Latinos also came across via Alaska. So the argument that whites and others "stole" this land from the NA is moot. Also, the statement that "We are all illegal immigrants, becase we stole the land from the Native Americans". Not so. The Native Americans had no immigration laws to break. In fact, they welcomed the pilgrims. Therefore, the Pilgrims were not illegal immigrants.Clickme_now
Isn't Alaska part of North America? There for, if you came from Alaska you are indeed a Native American.

It's part of it now. o.O or have we really mislabeled the Latinos? their real name is native American? o.o;It's part of it now. o.O or have we really mislabeled the Latinos? their real name is native American? o.o;Baconbits2004
The Latino population in the Americas came from Spain in the form of settlers.
Native Americans didn't have a concept of land ownership, to them the earth belonged to all of nature's creatures. You could TECHNICALLY make the argument that since they didn't own the land we didn't steal it, but for one since they don't have a concept of ownership we have to use our concept of ownership, and according to our own concepts they owned the land because they were there first. Second, we killed them in every way possible: we killed them through war, disease, forced labor, and even killing off their food supply. We took the resources they depended on for survival either for ourselves or we completely destroyed them. We destroyed their way of living, that's the ultimate theft according to their customs, and it's even worse according to ours. Think of what would happen if someone unleashed a bioweapon on the U.S., killed off our crops and cattle, and used military might to force us to live in a small corner of the country, would the survivors just sit back and say, "well, we got beat, watchya gonna do?" No, it'd be a tragedy, but apparently there's a double standard because it isn't a tragedy when we did the same to the Native Americans (more native than us, at least), and why? Becuase their culture's different?

Actually, in the southern parts of America the native populations are mostly descended from a mixed heritage of native ancestors and Spanish settlers, you didn't get as much of that in the northern areas.
New findings actually suggest Europeans settled the continent before the settlers from the bering strait arrived, and that the two cultures eventually met and formed the peoples and cultures that we consider native americans.

Do you have some kind of a link?

The history channel just ran a program about it a few weeks ago.
The "Native" Americans didn't claim anything as their own, besides small viliages where they tempoarily resided. To the best of our knowledge, yes, Native Americans crossed the Bering Straight and populated North and South America.
