There is nothing wrong about dropping out of high school. If you can make it through high school then make it through it. Dropping out is only the last resort if you can't make it or have better plans.

I dropped out at the age of 16. That extra 2-3 years in the work force gave me time to save up for a big UNIVERSITY. I did the community college crap and now I just graduated the university of illinois (i go to school with michael jordan's son). I'm done with school when all my friends are just now getting TO their university. HA HA!

Seriously, it isn't just for losers. You're life isn't ruined if you drop out. I know your teachers say (because MINE sure did) that with dropping out you have no chance of getting far in life. That is a lie. Don't let the school systems brain wash you like they were made for.

I start my new job in 3 months and I'll be making well over $150,000 a year. Not bad for a 22 year old drop out with a GED who didn't need school but STILL made it far in life.

This is just motivation for those of you who are having troubles in school or plain don't like school. A school won't make who you are. Jobs don't care (though it looks nice) that you graduated from some big wig university, they care about that 4 years after it and what you are planning to do with it.

Mike Hawk is nice.

Tell people that jobs don't care about what school you go to all you want, then let them try to become a doctor or lawyer and lets see how they do.

unfortunately, some people who drop out aren't able to accomplish as much.

Staying it opens doors easier.

I didn't say they DIDN'T care. I said that they are more worried about what you can do with that DEGREE from said university. I can tell people I graduated from Stanford all day. Will that alone land me a job? What about my skills? A fancy college doesn't make you a reliable worker, YOU DO!

There is no way in hell you are going to be making "well over" $125K (well withing the rich 1%) with only a GED. At age 22 and as a drop out, there is no company that would hire you for that kind of salary. Also, if you were realling making that much, the total amount (pre-bonuses) would have already been discussed so "well over" doesn't make sense either.

Well, if you do nothing like I do, and don't even get a GED, then yes, you're a huge loser. But obviously you're not like us, actually reading your post, it sounds like crap, so maybe you are like us. Some are, some aren't.

I said it LOOKS NICE, didn't I?

So just because this guy has no experience and graduated from Yale they are going to pick him even though since his graduation he has done nothing to benefit him, didn't even get a job, over this guy who graduated from the U of I and since his graduation went to work for said comapany and even furthered his abilities by putting his degree to use.

Get what I am saying?

People on this board believe you can't get into a college because you dropped out of school, what a shame. Yes, you can still go to college if you get your GED. This is what I did.

Say Mike Hawk 3 times fast.

I had to pay for a few things along the way but I did it without high school.

The odds of a 22 year old high school drop out making a six-figure salary is verging on nil.

You mentioned that all of your friends are just now starting college, while you at the age of 22 are completely finished. Unless your friends joined college late (which would kind of defeat the purpose of your entire rant), then they would be finishing college at roughly the same time as you are. You start at 18 years old, go for 4 years, that adds up to 22 years of age.

I'm also curious as to what company you are going to be working for. I'd be skeptical of anyone claiming to start out at 150K per year.

150,000 a year isn't a lot of money. It is for me, but it's not all the money in the world. Some people make that in a DAY!

Well, I just passed my General Securities Registered Representative Examination and now I have to take my Uniform Investment Advisor Law Exam. If you can understand I am on my way to become a stock broker.

I've been training on the job. They have excellent on the job training. No pay, though. I'm glad I am done with that. It takes about 6 months to take all these testsso in the mean time most of us are allowed some training.

I am THIS close to becoming a registered representative for my firm.

Some roses grow from concrete. Ever watch the pursuit of happyness? Some people are motivated enough to let nothing stop them.

Dismissed.

Honestly, I know succeful drop outs. Stop stereotyping. If someone drops out, gets a GED, goes to college, they can make it, did I? No, but I'll probably die when I'm 25, I have **** health. However, for people who do go to college, they can lead succesful lives. Not every drop out does nothing.

I don't disagree that there are successful dropouts. My father was one of them.

What I doubt is this person's claim that he is one of those successful dropouts. Do you really believe that the type of person who would put in the effort necessary to overcome dropping out of high school and getting this job that he says he got, would be the same type of person to get on a video game focused website and brag about it?

150,000 a year isn't a lot of money. It is for me, but it's not all the money in the world. Some people make that in a DAY!

Mike_HawkNiiice

Maybe some people make obscene amounts of money like that in a day, but their number is so few that they are not even worth mentioning.

I'd be skeptical of anyone claiming to start out at 150K per year.

its a well known respectable company called MCDONALDS!

Honestly, I know succefuldrop outs. Stop stereotyping. If someone drops out, gets a GED, goes to college, they can make it, did I? No, but I'll probably die when I'm 25, I have **** health. However, for people who do go to college, they can lead succesful lives. Not every drop out does nothing.

Cool it sparky, this is only teh internetz 8) ohh ya and u spelt successful wrong, Did u know of this invention called Spellchecker?

That'sf funny, you insulting me and all, oh never mind, I mean, "U". Please, if you're going to insult someone, don't be a hypocrite.

Dismissed.

Summing that up... $150,000 a year is pretty uncommon, but for a starter... thats... outlandish.

I'm 19 but I'm on the same track. I dropped out at 16 too. I dropped out at 9th grade, I was expelled for arrestment on MIP charges (big ones) but I turned my life around, got my GED as soon as I got off probation and went to the Art Institute of Las Vegas to study Animation. I had to put off classes for a little bit for personal reasons, but every one of my friends just got their diploma 2 months ago while I got mine 3 years ago, and very close to a Bachelors of Science degree.

I don't think most high school drop-outs are going to go for their GED, Jr College, and University. What would be the point? It's probably easier to just to finish high school than to have to get a GED and go through Jr College.

You seem to think you're out of the ordinary for being 22 and graduating from college, but most people are 21 or 22 when they graduate from college.

You to also place spaces between your words also, I teach u the difference between internet lingo and misspelling words tomorrow @ 4pm, mmkayz?

You're extremely arrogant, it's called a typo. Also, Why finish school when you probably won't live for another decade? I would rather not waste my time with school, "Yeah, I finished college!" *Dies*. If I was going to make it to 50, then sure, I'd finish school, but otherwise, what's the point?

Its actually easier to drop out lol. Albeit less credible, but he is trying to say life isn't over for those who are in high school until they are 17-19.

Edit-

Life isn't over for those who drop out, I meant. But it's not encouraged, in my case it was smarter.

You're absolutely right. If you drop out of high school, that certainly isn't the end of your life. It may make it tougher, but it's certainly possible to get your GED, go to college, and get a good job.

Again, I just don't believe that the OP is one of those people. At least not to the degree that he is claiming.
