Huh, haven't seen a "Flat Earth Society" thread in awhile. I guess we've been a little over-due for one.

I'm not complaining, but the Flat Earth Society is literally older than the internet.

Q: "Why does gravity vary with altitude?"

A: The moon and stars have a slight gravitational pull.

WTH? If that were true, gravity would greatly fluctuate throughout the the day and month.

Q: Exactly what shape is the Earth if it's flat? Square or circle?

A: Circle, like in the UN logo, however, the earth is NOT 2D, it is in the shape of a cylinder.

Yeah... not only does that not make very little sense, but it also completely contradicts their whole "acceleration theory" regarding the earth's gravity.

I can only conclude that this is what happens when you fall asleep in science class too often!

pssst....The moon DOES have a slight gravitational pull. how else do you account for tide changes through out the world? although im not so sure the stars do, but the moon does :D -simplified version its 1 am i really dont feel like going into theories and details Mr.Newton would help me out with it but he's not around at the moment.

No need. I'm aware that the moon's gravity has an effect on the earth. However for their "theory" to work, it should be much more pronounced than it is (ditto for the Sun).

Q: "What's underneath the Earth?" aka "What's on the bottom?" aka "What's on the other side?"

A: This is unknown. Some believe it to be just rocks, others believe the Earth rests on the back of four elephants and a turtle

Well, Creationists believe that the world was created 6,000 years ago in 6 days by an invisible being. And they want it taught in science c-lass

I think it takes a smart person to rationalize this kind of stuff, I remember reading a thread discussion on that website of flat earth claimers and opposing views. Things got REALLY complicating, and some of the theories flat earth society members made were really creative and sound. Never the less the world is round, but some of the people on that site are extremely creative in rationalizing their theory.
