Things that people say just because its considered PC or popular?

For example "There's nothing wrong with being Gay I'm sure alot of people only say that because of the rapidly growing tolerance of Gays by society and they don't want to look like jerks for saying otherwise. Its the same thing when they say they have no problem with homosexuality. I gurantee you they just want to fit in and make themselves look good

Oh I do not see this thread going into a happy place with an opener like that. As it implies people who say they don't see a problem with being gay are lying and actually do have a problem with it or think It's wrong in some way. Which I can assure you is not the case.

But I'll try and remain objective and go with the notion that it was just an example and not make any assumptions about your character and just move the topic forward.

I think the current Obama bashing falls into the "popular" trend. Due to the campaign he ran for the presidency, most bought into the notion that as soon as he took office the problems with the economy, unemployment, and the "war on terror" would all magically be fixed overnight and we would all be living in some new golden age of prosperity. Even though in reality Obama has basically been playing the role of janitor cleaning up the mess Bush left. So I think we have a lot of disenchanted people at this point in time.

Just my opinion though. ^_^

Just because they say something doesn't mean they mean it. They are just trying to respect others. They don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by bashing who they are or what they like. You can hate someone all you want, but you probably shouldn't say what you're thinking out-loud if you do.

Why is everybody jumping all over the guy? its like he says one thing and people get all overly defensive. There wasn't anything that struck me as homophobic or as a shot towards gay people in his post.

I'll even agree with him that some people do tend say things just to save face. That isn't to say all but the fact is that I've noticed there are some folks who do that sort of thing. Alot of folks are tolerant and accepting sure, but as in every walk of life you have those who are too scared to say their true feelings

Talking about gays in general is like a fad at this point, they make up like 2% of the population (in America) yet they're talked about constantly. Just shut the **** up already, not the gays but the straight people, I have two friends that are gay that don't talk about it nearly as much as my straight friends, they just enjoy their life. It's like some hipster thing to bring up gays and how great they are because they watched the latest episode of Glee or whatever.

Yes I understand their plights, and yes I agree we should do away with laws or government in general when it comes to marriage, but man...

Most people at work think I'm Christian. I realized after the first week that there were several hardcore bible humpers heading the dept, so I adjusted accordingly. I was raised Lutheran anyway, so it's easy to BS.

Hell, I'd go to church if it meant a $20k salary increase.
