The earlier seasons were great, but right now it's starting to turn into the South Park hit or miss type. I'm still waiting for Something Something Something Darkside.
I think the first three series were absolutely brilliant but nowadays Family guy is completely unfunny. A sign of bad comedy writing is when the writers resort to using the same characters again and again to make the same jokes again and again and nowadays they do that in every single Family guy episode. Even the cultural references aren't funny anymore because they're too safe and keep referencing obscure 80's stuff
Seasons 1-5 and some of 6 were hilarious, still makes me laugh even though i've seen all of them quite a few times. But now in season 7, the randon, witty jokes they had that were hilarious just went stale. They even now repeat jokes from the past like the 3 minute Conway Twitty full song joke in one of the newer episodes>__> I always kinda knew there writing style with random cutaways would end up becoming predictable and not very funny :|

Yes. This is something that really annoys me about new Family Guy. They do stuff like this, because they just can't be bothered to actually write anything resembling an actual joke. So they just fill a 3 minute gap with archive footage of some random country music to take up time. And then they do the same thing again every other episode. Comedy writing really doesn't get much more incompetent and lazy than that. Whenever it happens, I just feel like punching Seth MacFarlane in the face.

lol yeah, and their's also those newer Brian heavy episodes giving his opinions on things. Atheism, Banning Marijuana, Fox's Broadcasting flaws, it's just MacFarlene's way of giving his opinion to the world. I personally think Family Guy needs like a 1-3 year break to come up with a better writing formula that's actually funny. And i just cant stand Stewie being homosexual. I mean, i don't have anything agaisnt them, it's just that Stewie used to be a maniacal talking baby that plotted to kill his mother (which is hilarious :lol: ) and now he's just a tool MacFarlene uses to make fun of homosexuals >_>. I'm no trying to be offensive to people that choose to be homosexual, but that's just not the Stewie i used to laugh hard at :(
