I need links to helpful sites, I don't know which model to get. This would be my first MP3 player, so any sites detailing all the features, manuals, etc. would be nice.

How much media do you have? I have the 80 gig 2nd Gen. I don't need that much, but heard it had a lot less problems than the original Zune, had a bigger and better screen and was 50 bucks more.

Well the 30gig model is known to have some problems. If you want an mp3 player that's your first, not an iPod and is going to be reliable for 30gig then just get a Creative Vision M

Its a solid product and I'd recommend buying one over a comparable iPod. I have a 30gig Zune myself and while I've had some minor stability problems (it freezes up from time to time) its nothing I haven't experienced with the various iPods I've owned (2 1st gen shuffles, a 4th gen iPod and a 2nd gen Nano). Only major issue I have with Zune is the software isn't as good as it should be.

What kind of problems, exactly?

Being able to do both would be nice. But I would mostly be listening to music.

Uh rapid battery usage to not being usable. I don't know, I was just told by people on this site. A better way to find out is start a whole new thread for it

Battery usage isn't an issue if you're smart about it, ie disable wireless, turn down the screen brightness and set the backlight to only stay on for a couple of seconds. Its nothing mindblowing but I usually get 8-12 hours out of my Zune between charges, albeit I rarely watch movies on it.

30 gb zune is good. most people dont need 80 gigs (my collection is only 1 gig + 21 cds).
