I wish he would release the reins a bit and let some of the better novels be made into movies. That way we could get the characters we love with dialogue that is good. Maybe...

Ugh amen! From what I understand his dialogue was so bad in the first three films he had to agree to let some other writers work it out. Now all but independent dude seems to be in charge and oh man it is not good.

Never heard that but it wouldn't make sense, Star Wars is the story of Anakin Skywalkers rise and fall..

Star Wars could work with a late triology of episodes 7,8, and 9.. They could use it as a completely CGI movie with the old actors voicing the characters.. All I would recommend would be George Lucas NOT TO WRITE the script, or direct.. The new Indiana Jones script was awful (he wrote it).. And the last 3 Star Wars movies were disapointments and no way compared to the old ones. (he directed and wrote those).. He has clearly lost his talent, and needs some one taking the reins.. Maybe some one like the Nolan brothers who have basically singlehandedly revived the Batman series.. A series that was one of the most shameful series ever in the 90s after Keaton.

A third batch of films could be great if Lucas lets someone else write the script.

Agreed....I would love a Darth Bane movie....also a new jedi order movie series, although that would be harder to do well unless they make all 20 books into movies....:P

i think Lucas said that there would be 3 trilogies in the late 70's. I don't think it will happen and maybe it's best if it doesn't. Other then eye candy, the prequels tarnished the franchise in many ways. The new Clone Wars series is fine for what it is and projects like that are one way to keep the Star Wars universe going.

I don't think a third trilogy that continues on from the first two would be a good idea. It's pretty clear that episodes 1-6 are the Anakin Skywalker Tragedy, and it all gets wrapped up pretty nicely in the end. However, I don't think this is the end for Star Wars movies. My prediction is that both the Clone Wars and the new live action series, for as long as they are successful, will release tie-in movies sporadically. Of course, I do love the idea of using some of the EU material for movies. How about a Quinlan Vos movie?

Also, it should be known that Lucas had help writing the script for the first three movies. He wrote the story, the characters, etc. but the dialogue and scene-by-scene layout was largely out of his hands. It's not that he lost it, he never completely had it in the first place. He's excellent at writing stories and characters, he's a pretty good director althoughI hesitate to call him elite, but scriptwriting and dialogue is his major weak point and if he does decide to make more movies he needs to go back to having someone else write the script.

Unfortunately Clone War is painfully kiddy with its dialogue.. This is not suggesting I hate kiddy things.. But the old Starwars movies struck up a healthy balance.. The series is painful to watch due to the dialogue and its extremely shallow.. Lucas has fell quite far with his script, he seems to be getting worse ane worse as the years go on.

If they did that Lucas should be nowhere nearing the writing or directing of it. And preferably it take place separate of the original story and characters.

Clone Wars is kiddy in dialogue, That's the intended audience, it doesn't tarnish the franchise though. The EU in books are fine. I just don't see how Lucas could pull of another trilogy. He isn't getting any younger and in terms of ideas, I don't know he has enough to justify three more movies without them sucking.

If we had another triology I would think that Lucas only is done with art direction and producing.. Directing and script should be done by some one else.. I would prefer to the see the Nolan brothers who did the last two Batman's, Prestige etc.. They have shown to be able to make a sharply adaption that is not only fun to watch with great dialogue but smart with a deep story and message..

I dont think a trilogy that took place after the deaths of Palpatine and Vader would be any good..... If they had to bleed more out of the story they should do it between 3 and 4, or even an early days of the "Old Republic"

But even those are a stretch, let the greatest story ever told alone Lucas...please.

Calm down guys, a third trilogy really wouldn't be that bad. We just have to wait a couple of decades! There are many advantages to this that make a good third trilogy possible:

1. Lucas will be dead, and someone better can be in charge.

2. Technology will be so far advanced that they could realistically computerize the entire film as to recreate the characters of the original trilogy.

3. They will have around thirty years to come up with a perfect plot.

I've heard about this for many years. Appararently there are 9 episodes total, but personally I don't see (as far as the movies are concerned) where the story could go. What would it be about? The Jedi Academy vs. the Sith Academy? Jacen and Jaina? The Yuuzhan Vong? Then there's the whole deal with having to recast Luke, Leia, and Han, and I doubt that would please most Star Wars fans. If they make a new series based on a different time period that's one thing, but if they continue the story immediately after ROJ, I don't think that would be a good idea.

We already waited thirty years after the original story, and people still didn't want there to be a recast of the original characters. How long are we supposed to wait exactly? 5 more decades? Anyway, a direct sequel to Return of the Jedi would be pointless since they pretty much would have to create a new enemy. That's why if they make new Star Wars movies it should take place in a different time period altogether.

Yeah I used to read the EU. My point is that the story goes in all sorts of crazy directions, so it'd be pointless to continue right with the Truce at Bakura if you get my point. ;)

As a big Star Wars fan I don't want that to happen. If they release a new trilogy George Lucas shouldn't be writing the dialogue or directing the movie. He knows how to create a story but he is terrible when it comes to managing actors and translating his amazing narration into dialogues.

[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"][QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"]They already made stuff that takes place after ROTJ dude....and its awesome:PDarth-Caedus
Yeah I used to read the EU. My point is that the story goes in all sorts of crazy directions, so it'd be pointless to continue right with the Truce at Bakura if you get my point. ;)

True..they should just skip some stuff and make a god damned Thrawn movie already:P

That would be cool. I'd really like to see a movie based off the Jedi Academy books too. :P

No thank you. I'm a fan of the original trilogy but I've had enough of George Lucas. We shouldn't let George Lucas do to Star Wars what Sonic Team and Sega did to Sonic. Let the video game adaptations like KOTOR or Force Unleashed carry on the legacy of Star Wars instead of tainting it with more "new trilogies".

Or we could create a time machine and bring back Ed Wood remake theprequel trilogy. If anything, at leastit'll be funnier xD

I think a lot of people have too high of expectations for the Star Wars movies. I enjoyed ALL of them and wouldn't mind seeing a few more movies came out by Mr. George Lucas. They are fun sci-fi flicks, Star Wars is not suppose to be a high acclaimed drama everyone loves (I hate most crap on TV like this). No need for hardcore fancy writers. Star Wars well be what it is, there is more people out there that feel as I do then people that complain about every little thing these movies have to complain about.

I would love to see a trilogy set around the grand admiral thrawn series, those5 books were glorious. Also shadows of the empire would be nifty.

From what I heard, there isn't going to be another Star Wars Trilogy, but I wish there was.

I wish people would just let Star Wars die. I'm getting so sick of seeing all of these books, games, and little cartoon movies about it. The first three movies were amazing, and everything else was just garbage. The Expanded Universe wasn't as bad as the last three films, but they just didn't feel anything like Star Wars to me.

George Lucas writes dialogue that sounds good only on paper. When you actually hear it in a movie, it seems awful.
