2000 - good, still in the economic boom of the 90's and excited about the new millenium morale was great

2001 - 9/11

2002 - US invasion of afghanistan

2003 - first bombs fell on iraq unnecessary war begins

2004 - indonesia tsunami

2005 - hurricane katrina...need i say more

2006 - hip hop declared "dead"

2007 - economy slows significanlty

2008 - worst economic meltdown since great depression

2009 - barrack obama elected as first african american president, economy still in shambles, tensions between north korea rise

yea I guess it could go down as the most important decade of my life thus far, tho I am only 25.

The only things that kept me from labeling this the worst decade in recent memory were:

- I've only lived in three decades (80's, 90's, and 00's) and can only remember the latter two. So I don't have a whole lot to go on
- The internet finally took off and we got smart technology

Other than this decade sucked. Pop culture started going downhill in 1999 and it's been continuing its nose dive ever since. Pop music is completely irredeemable (whereas in the past there were always a good collections of hits) in this decade, we've got prosti-tots, 9/11 has bestowed upon us a new era of McCarthyism, television sucks, and gas prices doubled this decade even when taking into account inflation. Oh yeah, and it's now harder than ever to get into any kind of upper education. Ten years ago if you wanted to go to grad school research experience was something you only had if you were exceptionally motivated. Nowadays you don't have any chance of getting accepted without impressive research experience.

So yeah, 2000-2009 sucked. The only good that came out of this decade was the massive leap forward in technology and the equally massive development in the internet.

.It sucked, basically. I hated this decade, and I lived the 90's. Despite me being a kid during then, things still we're more relax. The cartoons were still good, the music was somewhat good, the video games were incredible.

.00's make me sick so bad, because everyon was into politics. After 9/11 that's all everyone was into POLITICS POLITICS POLITICS!

.The weight loss, health scare craze that hasn't peaked yet, but seems to be on it's way out of the door. Finally!

. Reality TV came into full force... BAD! Need I say more?

.Hip-hop over saturated, like saturated sugars on top of saturated fats, bunch of terrible egotistical tards that straight up counteracted the concious and positive way the 90's we're taking it. Then game that corporate tool Jay-Z and Diddy... Need I say more? Yeah you have underground, but the fact that ther is an underground scene and none of those artist can't get props, Hip-Hop is dead! We all know the vitality of a scene is judge by it's mainstream presence. And these kids think drink is hip-hop's new great hope... sad children.

.Movies: Everyo other movie was and 80's, Comic book, book remake, live action adaptation. While all the actual good movies get passed up and back seated, only to recognized by few.

.Youtube/Myspace/Facebook: I don't know if this did more good in some cases, or bad, but I can tell you when kids can't type a viable sentence for their lives and think people take them serious.

.Video games? 2 words... GRAPHIC! WHORES! More thoughts IT'S BEEN CASUAL SINCE SONY STEPPED IN! More words? Nintendo never made "hardcore" games, they just made games, so sitting around weeping about the days that they made hardcore games is silly, look at their old commercials, they've always been kid/family oriented.

The 2000's had some amazing video games... Half Life 2, Call of Duty 4, Zelda: Wind Waker, Crysis, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Smash Bros Melee, Fallout 3, F.E.A.R., Bioshock, Counter Strike, Fallout 3, and more...

Personally..political nastiness aside it's been great!

I Left high school, learned to drive, had a proper long term relationship, graduated from college, got engaged, bought a house, landed a pretty sweet well paying job, got married, and i'm about to become a dad for the first time in about 4 weeks!!

It starts with George Bush winning the election and ends with crazies calling Obama a socialist, pretty sucky. I think this is pretty much how the boomers probably felt about the 70's: there was an era of speaking out and protesting and free love and all that good stuff and everybody felt like the next decade they would get their shot to change the world, then the 70's came and things just went downhill, and then the 80's came and things REALLY went downhill. That's how I feel about 00-09, we were riding this wave of progressivism and challenging a lot of social and political norms and then BAM the far right won big in elections and just didn't let go. I miss the 90's.

It was OK, it was just that 9/11 and the the wars in the Middle East ruin the decade.

IT could have gone better.. but life is what it is. SO, it was great.

Well, when I was answering the question, I answered it from a world-view perspective and not so much a personal perspective.

Like, I stated 9/11 changing everything, which affects virtually everybody.

I didn't take the question to mean how was this decade for me personally.

This is my second one, and the first I will experience all ten years.

I guess it was the majority of my life so naturally it was...... Pretty bad.:D
