Are all jobs like this?

Well, last night at work I was vomiting. At this point they still made me work, actually gave me more work saying I was slacking.

Tonight, I feel the same, I call in sick, they say that if I don't show up I'll lose my job.

How is this justified?

Puke in front of the customers and tell them your sad plight. Then they'll let you go home.

What is the job?

Do you have some history of faking illness to get out of work or such things?

If you have reached the set limit of call-ins, then yes, they can terminate you.

It's a dishwashing job.

And for the record, in the seven months I've worked there, I've only ever called in sick once.

That's pretty ridiculous. I don't think that's right.

My job is very easygoing about calling in sick as long as you don't take advantage of it. If I stay home from school and feel terrible, I just have to call them in the morning and explain why I'm not coming in and there's no problem.

So you get fired, it's not like it's a great job to begin with really and if they're treating you so poorly why would you want to work there.

I really should quit. Unfortunately, though, the job market is horrendous right now though.

The second I find a job as a replacement, I'm quitting. (I just moved out on my own (18) so I can't really quit unless I have another source of income to pay the rent.)

id have quit that night there is no reason to hang around a place that doesnt acknowledge an illness when there clearly is
