This Week's Box Office Results - When Do Some GOOD Movies come Out?

The Following is from Box Office Mojo.com. And regarding the topic title...before anyone mentions it, Saw 4 does not count as a good movie.

1 The Game Plan- $16,262,000

2 The Heartbreak Kid- $14,031,000

3 The Kingdom$9,345,000

4 Resident Evil: Extinction- $4,300,000

5 The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising- $3,725,000

6 Good Luck Chuck- $3,500,000

7 Feel the Noise- $3,400,000

8 3:10 to Yuma (2007)- $3,040,000

9 The Brave One- $2,260,000

10 Mr. Woodcock- $2,025,000

Is it me,or does it seem like America is paying $10 to take a nap at the movies this weekend? Disney's The Gameplan is in the # 1 spot for a second week in a row with an estimated $16.2 million, while The Heartbreak Kid opened to #2 with $14 mil. This week's other new releases, The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising and Feel The Noise opened at the number 5 and seven spots.

Next week holds nothing but possible Oscar contender films with We Own The Night, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Michael Clayton, and Why Did I Get Married? Do yourself a favor and rent a DVD instead.

The Kingdom looks pretty good and its got Jason Bateman...Apollo5000

I've been wanting to see that one as well. Maybe on my day off this week.

It just sucks that it's not released until November 2. Not a whole lot of worthwhile movies in the theater before then.

Well, there is Crank 2 to look forward too ;)nuttybar

But it doesn't start filming until the end of next April. If you're lucky, it'll be in theaters before the end of 2008, and that's if the studio doesn't decide to sit on the film until summer 2009.

lets' see Micheal Clayton and We Own the Night look good (tho I can see Micheal Clayton now since Im near New York and its out in some theaters over there.

30 days of Night might actually be teh first good R-rated Horror movie in a while. Gone Baby Gone looks good ( and possibly Ben affleck's last chance to get a gig in Hollywood and maybe his brother Casey's last chance to get notice) and Dan in Real Life looks funny ( tho it'll proably get murdered by saw 4...and I'm proably watching that even if it might suck. Sue me I like the first three)

Everyone has different tastes in movies. If I rag on a movie, it's ONLY the film I'm ragging on,never the people who watch them. As for 30 Days of Night, it looks interesting to say the least from the commercial. I haven't watched the trailer yet.

I would make a movie about summer and release it in December...but seriously they don't have to release crap, they could take the time to make a good Christmas movie, since Christmas movies are almost guarenteed not to flop they will make money off of it whether or not it's good.

Not necessarily true...take a look at Black Christmas. That movie tanked hard. It opened up on Christmas Day, and it was out of most theaters by New Year's Day.

Then again, that was a dark horror movie. Not exactly a Christmas movie, but a movie released in the Christmas season. I'm wondering why this practice hasn't spilled into video games. Only take a few months to develop a game, and release it during Christmas.
