Matt Groening's Netflix-exclusive series came out a few days ago.

I've been loving it! As I speak I'm halfway through episode 7. I feel like the critics really had it out for this show, I can't help but feeling after a year or two this series will fall into place as a successor to Futurama and The Simpsons.

What is everyone else thinking about the show? And please, try to avoid major show spoilers for the uninitiated.

Had really high hopes cause of Simpsons and Futurama, but this doesn't do it for me (yet). It's severely lacking the charm Futurama and Simpsons had and I barely cracked a smile. I'm sure it will get better though, I have faith.

I think the last episode I saw was episode 6, the one where they deal with the rednecks in the swamp. I've been enjoying it, but I feel like the show is neither thatfunny nor are the plots overly engrossing or even interesting. It makes me laugh from time to time and while that may be all I need from it right now I feel like if another cartoon came along that made me laugh harder or had an interesting plot it would easily take Disenchantment's place. So basically it's adequate so far, but not much else and is teetering on me not tuning in next season if something better came out.

@Ovirew: I finished it the other day.

I really enjoyed it, ends in a really interesting place and I thought the writing was good.

Definitely gets better but there were jokes even in the first episode that made me laugh.

It's enjoyable. I had high hopes, especially in light of the fact that my favorite Futurama movie is "Bender's Game", the one where they go to a Tolkien-inspired fantasy world.

My main complaint? It's too goofy. Futurama and Simpson's established themselves by being legitimately funny, but then working in the puns and corny stuff and even borderline stupid things later. It's like your relative or friend that makes stupid jokes, you've known them so long you just kind of chuckle and genuinly appreciate the humor, but if some coworker said the same joke you'd be like "Dude that's stupid". Disenchantment hasn't reached that level of familiarity and comfort with me, so I don't really appreciate the humor as much as I did in Groening's previous work.

I still like the show, but it's just too hit-or-miss at the moment. I also really like the characters. Elfo's inability to be unhappy is really interesting, I'd love to hear a psychologist's perspective on that haha. And Luci is just great.

As someone who really wants the current Simpsons to die a brutal death and never cared much for the later seasons of Futurama, Disenchantment felt like a return to the good old days of early Simpsons and Futurama writing. I just finished it last night and I thoroughly enjoy it. My only issue is that it was only 10 episodes long.

Need to watch more, but it has some instances of Matt Groening trying to be Seth MacFarlane again.

So I just finished it, and I still really like this show. The biggest crime is that it is only 10 episodes long - I feel like a season of this show could easily be twice as long.

The ending kind of caught me off guard, and I think that's partly because they waited until those last couple of episodes to explain what happened years ago. There's also the whole Elfo thing to ponder until this show eventually gets new episodes.

I want to see more of drunken Pricess Tirabeanie (sp?) and her goofy adventures. My thinking is that some of the negative reception to the show is based off of reviewers only receiving the first 7 episodes of the series rather than the full 10 episodes, and missing out on the payoff of the season's plot.

5 eps in. So far it's got a few good laughs out of me but it's going to have to do quite a bit more to displace Futurama.

But...I want Bean in my party. Put her in the melee front.

My Swedish friend really likes this show but for me, no. But I was always more into American Dad, South Park, The Boondocks, Bob's Burgers, and Ricky and Morty type humor than Simpsons, and Futurama type humor.

@Ovirew:

I really like it so far. I don't really see what people are complaining about but this is everything you would come to expect from Matt Groening's work. 8.5/10

Not sure what you guys don't see, but I'm laughing quite a bit.

Bean, Elfo and Lucy make a great group.

Just finished it, and it’s pretty good imo. Doesn’t quite reach the height of early Simpson( they are soooo bad now!) futurama and family guy, but it definitely got potential!

We are only two eps in but it hasn't "grabbed" us so far. Still, I don't take that as a negative because I could easily say the same thing about Futurama when it first came out but once it really got going it became one of my favorite shows of all time. It's good enough that we are willing to keep going to see how it evolves.
