So tonight I watched the 2 Matrix sequels for the first time in a very long time, and I realized something for the first time: this series would have been way better had they just stopped after the first one. The sequels have the feel that they would made soully to bank in on the first movie's success, and lack all the artistic integrity that the first possessed. Yes we find out a bunch of background info in the sequels, but common! So what are your thoughts on the Matrix sequels? Personally, to sum in up, the first was a work of art while the other two are mildly entertaining, yet still only slightly better then your run of the mill mindless action movie.

Reloaded: Sure it was mostly fighting but the choreography was fantastic. I enjoyed it because the fighting was good

Revolutions: One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Complete garbage until the end. I don't understand why we spent so much time shooting robots that were coming in through one whole. snore

Yeah I didn't really like the next 2 sequels better than the first. The third one was my least favorite. :?

When I saw the first one in the cinema I was impressed. Even bought it on DVD.

After the sequels, I feel embarrassed to even own the first one now.

I love the first 2. The 3rd one could've been saved with a proper ending. The whole 3rd movie isn't very good but its lack of closure makes it fail in the end. It's saddening that such creative minds who originally create the concept can't come up with an ending for it.

I love the first one and really enjoyed the second two. A lot of amazing looking fights in Reloaded, and Revolutions just left me in awe at the time. But I typically find myself to be the only one that finds the third movie amazing.

For me, the first film was good -not great, but the two following films were utter dross, I really don't like them at all, I doubt I'll revisit them.

the next two would have been better if Neo was still finding out who he is. the first one spoiled it when he kicked smiths ass, and was able to fly in the end

Wait...the Matrix had sequels? There was only only true Matrix. The original. The other two don't even compare.

imo, the best part of all three movies was the Zion invasion. Keanu Reeves is just such a horrible actor, it brought the movie down. I've been told that Will Smith was suggested to play Neo and I think that would have been about 100x better.

The Matrix: Fantastic movie. Good all rounder. Reloaded: Fantastic movie. Loads more action scenes and great new characters. Revolutions: Great movie. Not as good as the rest but I think people give it more grief than it deserves. Thoroughly enjoyed the ending. All three: Suffer from weird sound management. All talking is really quiet, followed by incredibly loud music and sound effects. If watching at night I have to have the remote on hand at all times.

the ending of the 3rd kinda brought the series to a close, but at the same time it didn't, because too many unanswered questions.

The first Matrix was clearly the best.
2nd was the worst IMO. Boring all the way through. Simply horrible.
Third Matrix was ok. Better than the second movie, but nowhere near the first.

There was only one Matrix movie. The sequels were abominations. I'd put them on the level of something like Robocop 3.

1 one was great obviously... the whole neo fighting smith in 2 and 3 became pointless because it was pretty much neither could kill the other so it didn't matter how hard they hit each other....

They were absolutely atrocious. It was hard to follow the story line of Revolutions, and there was no story in Reloaded. Plus, Keana Reeves is a terrible actor.

The sequels sucked. It might have been better if the had explored Neo discovering his powers rather than him having them all not long after. Maybe that's how it just came to be, but still. Revolutions was just horrible. They should have not revealed all those Smith clones for the end battle. Could have been much more of a shock to have found out at the very end that he took over the Matrix.

I liked Reloaded a lot. I didn't like their half-assed explanation for the nearly invincible twins or some other little things. I thought the whole dance scene was a monumental waste of time. I thought maybe Trinity was going to be pregnant to set something else up for later but obviously not. I liked the movie on the whole though.

Revolutions is weird. The first time I saw it I was severely disappointed in it. I thought it was terrible. On subsequent viewings I've actually come to like it. It's still not as good as the first two and I really think they could have cut back on the mech fighting scenes, but I think the series as a whole is meant to leave you fill in some of the blanks as to what and why exactly some of the things happened the way they did and that's what I like about it.

Here's an intersting take on the third movie. I'm not sure I agree with all of it, but it's an interesting read.

Mindless action? I WISH The Matrix sequels had more action and less boring dialogue scenes. Psstt..mindless action, yeah right.

The first movie was a good movie. The second and third are a good continuation of the story and are important if you want to understand more about the story than geeky guy turns superman. The problem is the second and third movies aren't in a nice little self-contained movie package like the first one and ultimately don't feel as fulfilling unless you watch them all as one and picture them as part of the same story instead of three different movies. I don't think the last two are bad stories, especially if you watch them together, they aren't good movies though.
