do you know of any such songs? (you might have listened to united abominations, it had some really good tracks like sleepwalker and washington.)acxler8
I have the UA album yeah... but do you mean do I know of any good Metallica thrash songs, or any Megadeth thrash songs?
Since you directly referenced "Hangar 18," there's a sequel ("Return to Hangar") on The World Needs A Hero.
I'll also throw in anything by Shadows Fall (especially "Idle Hands" and "The Light That Blinds"), "Terror Train" from Demons & Wizards, "Ten Thosand Strong" by Iced Earth (actually, most of IE's catalog fits your criteria ;) ), "I'm Alive" by Helloween, and "Majesty" by Blind Guardian.
That's just for starters. :D

Just because of those kind of names, I'll say throw in "Five Magics" by Megadeth too.

no no i am not interested in any particular band. you have listened to hangar 18- it had a really good melody(i keep on repeating this because it matters the most to me), i want THAT KIND of song- regardless of band. although i admit that megadeth's style of guitar playing is most suited for catchy melodies...thanks. so do you like their melodies (is there a synonym for melody?)?Since you directly referenced "Hangar 18," there's a sequel ("Return to Hangar") on The World Needs A Hero.

Raining Blood, Seasons In The Abyss all by Slayer... Revolution Is My Name, Drag The Waters by Pantera again... see what you think of those.

angel of death, one of the few songs without melody that i really like. but its riffs at one point become unbearable. as for the others, i will try some of them... thanks for the help.[QUOTE="OrkHammer007"]thanks. so do you like their melodies (is there a synonym for melody?)?Absolutely, especially on "The Light That Blinds." The opening riff actually rivals "Hangar 18" in many ways.Since you directly referenced "Hangar 18," there's a sequel ("Return to Hangar") on The World Needs A Hero.

i have the urge to say Train of consequences since its my fav megadeth song. But i agree on the light that blinds.
so shadows fall is something to watch out for. why is it not so popular?acxler8I'm not really sure. I know they've had some problems with record labels, but "The War Within" sold well, and a few of the songs got a lot of airplay around my area (though part of that could be that the drummer is local).
If you want heavy and melodic I got some good stuff for you:
All That Remains-Two Weeks (Check out thier last two albums as they have alot of melody in them)
Killswitch Engage-The End of Heartache (Howard Jones is an INCREDIBLE singer and brings gret melody into their music)
Nightrage-Spiral (Heavier than the other stuff but still awesome and has a bit of melody)
Bullet For My Valentine-Waking the Demon (Just a cool song)
And for one a bit more hardcore than the others but still fits the criteria:
Opeth-Ghost of Perdition (One of my fav bands. They can be an acquired taste however)
my elder brother is also a fan of opeth. but some of their songs are heavy, while other cannot even remotely be called metal. this variation puts me off, unfortunately. If you want heavy and melodic I got some good stuff for you:

I remember the heaviness of some of their stuff put me off at first but then I forced myself to sit there and listen to Ghost of Perdition one day and he started singing and I got blown away. Ended up going out and buying 2 of their albums and never looked back.
Personally, the variation is one of the things I like the most about them but as I said I feel the band is very much an aquired taste.
most of the stuff in The Countdown to Extiction album by Megadeth is pretty good also if youre looking for mainly guitar riffs poison was the cure on the Rust in Peace album [Megadeth] is a very good song, I recommend [for a Megadeth fix] The albums Countdown to Extiction, Peace sells....But whos buyin?, and Rust in Peace
